I will cling firmly to Jordans nuts. For a guy that had not picked up a bat in 10+ years, he had room for improvement.

And Gaedal dude? He could not even run... He does not come close to being as good a player as Mike. At the very least Mike could run around the bases...LOL...

"This is how Jordan really is, I just never thought he'd let the world see it. His old Bulls' assistant coach, Johnny Bach, told me early on, "This guy is a killer. He's a cold-blooded assassin. It's not enough for him to beat you. He wants you dead."

THAT explains his speech. Daniel Plainview to a Tee...Probably his greatest strength and weakness...

I believe all the accusations about Jordan -- insecure, egotistical, thin-skinned. With that said, aside from what he did to Leroy Smith, the speech wasn't horrible. You put a man on stage and tell him to talk and there are certain expectations created. Most of it was good natured **** talking, the type of language you use with your friends. Leave it to journalists to be offended.

Completely agree with you. That's why I used the term "somewhat humble". I just meant that MJ's on a whole other level with the arrogance/cockiness. Guess he's the GOAT in that category, too. :)

In recent years he has ripped almost everyone for everything from not winning a Championship without him to stealing his "Superman" alter-ego. He has ripped team after team and player after player. Kobe, Phil, Riley, D. Howard, Stan Van Gundy...it goes on and on.

We'll have to wait and see but I think the hate coming from Shaq once he leaves the court will be epic(ly funny).

Both Jordan and Shaq (and Kobe for that matter) have mad size egos. They have to put people down (whether by words or by game) to feel good about themselves. Shaq shows his in a more goofy way because he has a more goofy personality. Jordan couldn't have pulled off what Shaq does because Jordan does not have that charm. Shaq is definitely not as motivated/competitive as Jordan.

Why should athletes be criticized for their role in the world? Some of you are saying he should have done more because of his position but thats stupid. What have you guys done? What have 95% of the world done? If every single person actually reaches out a little, just a tiny bit, the whole world would be better. It seems like people are saying if your rich and famous you have to help the unfortunate or the kids. The truth is famous people dont have to be the only ones that can effect kids. Anyone can make an effect on a child's life by just being their for them.

This is why i dont factor in this kind of stuff when I think of athletes.

For Easy: All that shoes, jerseys, caps, and crap are just advertisements. My parents taught me at an early age to think of them as only athletes. Enjoy watching them, respect their game and learn the good things about them. Dressing like them, acting like them, or any of that stuff will not help me become a better player. Thats something parents should teach their kids. At an early age kids might not understand but at least high school and after they should know.

I was more entertained with Mike's speech.

But I felt good watching Robinson's.

On the other side, he's always been a big fan of his principal big men rivals that he considered "worthy" like Yao, Hakeem, etc..do you ever recall Jordan doing that to Mitch Richmond, Clyde Drexler, etc? I sure don't...plus it seems like a lot of what he does is for show, he's almost like a pro-wrestler, I mean we're talking about freaking Kazaam here.

Any other normal players outside of the top 10 players , ESPECIALLY the GOAT, and I might have a bigger beef with what he said. But it only highlighted instead to me his truly "nasty" competitive nature and inner fire and drive, something you would normally kill to "instill" half of it in some of the players today.

Without this attitude, there would be no Jordan. Get over it.

Thru his career and life, can't say Jordan was entirely likeable as a role model or person in society.

But i can say he is still more likeable and respectable compared to most of our current NBA superstars today. :p
