I wish I wasn't such a fan of Kanye's music...he makes it very difficult. Probably my favorite rap producer since Prince Paul.
I personally don't see anything in his behavior that indicates he gives a **** what anyone thinks about him. It wasn't too long ago he was yelling, "F- MTV" backstage because he was shut out from receiving an award. Maybe I'm mistaken, but he didn't apologize for that behavior, and here he is now, sitting front row at the same awards show. The guy is a megalomaniac, and as long as the attention is on him, whether for good or bad reasons, is all that matters in his warped little world.
i never liked kanye's music but given the other mainstream alternatives, it was overall fairly tolerable. but what the hell happened to him? i was under the impression that he was one of the few handful of mainstream rappers left that hardcore hip hop fans actually respected.
We still do. A lot of people didn't like 808s, but I thought it was unique and it really grew on me. I don't care so much about his public image, just his music. Plus, a lot of the "ridiculous" stuff he publicly says...a lot of people are thinking the same thing, but have the decency not to say it (publicly).
