Don't count Tierre Brown out just yet. That kid is very persistant.

I don't normally participate in Dreamcasting, but I understand that Spreewell is available and the Knicks want frontline help. Question: would he be worth picking up for the Rockets as a starting 2 guard? If the Rockets packaged Cato, Thomas and/or Cuttino, would this trade work out?

I would prefer the Rockets stand pat and see how this team develops, but we do have some options now, don't we?

All those players are cap friendly. We better get something worth it in return...

I am sure some of them can find a job in Sharks.

    Maybe Mooch
    Maybe Collier too

I would rather keep Willis than Collier. He'll be a much better practice partner for Yao. Rudy will point at Cato sitting on the bench during practice and say out loud "this is what NOT TO BE LIKE".

I hope they keep Collier rather than Willis. Collier still may develop and Willis is at the end of his roundup.

I think it is time to move Moochie. How about Mooch and KT (one friendly and one unfriendly contract) for a back SG. Who's out there?

    I love the depth!

    1s - Francis, Mooch, Maddox

    2s - Cat, Oscar

    3s - Rice, Nachbar, tmo

    4s - Griffin, Taylor, Thomas

    5s - Ming, Cato, Collier

Thats 14: Im thinking Kenny may want out after the nice year he had to go somewhere and play more. Our needs are filled, so I would tend to think that if Taylor is playable this roster could be Thomasless leaving us wwith 13. I like the looks of this team!

If this dude Tito is a PURE point guard that they say, then Moochie is expendable.

You're dumping a guy with Moochie's experience for Maddox? The dude was a second round pick for a reason! Check out USA Today's profile of him:

    Tito Maddox, sophomore, Fresno State
    PG, 6-4, 190

OVERVIEW: Maddox did not play for Fresno State last year after being dismissed from the team before the season for receiving improper benefits.
He had a tremendous 2000-01 season for the Bulldogs by averaging 13.5 points and handing out 8.0 assists, good for fourth in the nation. Maddox was named the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year for his efforts. His size and strong ballhandling abilities make him an intriguing choice. He's already got professional experience, having played for the Phoenix Eclipse of the ABA.

COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Rod Strickland, Greg Anthony
COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Jeryl Sasser, Jamison Brewer, Rafer Alston
    ROLE PROJECTION: Reserve

POSITIVES: Maddox is the best distributing point guard in the draft. He’s a fine passer with the knack for the flashy, and can really get a club going in the transition game. In terms of his halfcourt ability, Maddox understands how to run a play without using it as an opportunity to set up his own shot, and that’s a rare thing. Maddox certainly can score, he just tempers his urge well. Physically, Maddox has considerable size for his position. He’s bigger than most of the league’s starters and can match up with the Jason Kidds and Gary Paytons of the world.

SHORTCOMINGS: Maddox is certainly not your perfect point. Turnovers are a problem area that likely will not go away, and the offense he played in during college gave its players the freedom that he won’t see in the NBA. An even bigger question may be with regard to his shooting. Maddox shot less than 30 percent from 3-point range in his only season. Even quality shooters struggle to adjust to the NBA perimeter game, so Maddox’s minutes may be limited substantially early in his career if he proves to be a liability from long range.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: "He does a very good job of getting in the paint, but in our league, there are guys who will make it much more difficult for him to finish. You certainly question whether he can hit the outside shot, and nowadays, that’s become the key." - Phoenix Suns coach Frank Johnson

Anyway, even if he were the next Jason Kidd, no one would take Moochie's contract off our hands. Tierre is the one on the bubble. I think Maddox may stick around as practice fodder for Steve. Maddox's strengths are passing and physical D, so maybe Rudy hopes Steve will pick up a few things from him in practice. If nothing else, he'll be practicing against a bigger, stronger player, which will help him against some of the better PGs in the league like Payton.

As long as Madox doesn't dribble the ball for 23 seconds out of 24 seconds than I'm cool.

If they are going to pay Moochie $20million, then he better show something besides hitting desperation buzzer beaters.

Hell, if Moochie gets $20 million, then we owe Scottie Brooks at least $15mill !

Oscar Torres will be back. I guarantee it.

I got a lovely hand written note from him in my season renewal packet stating "See you next year!"

Hey don't bag on little Scotty Brooks. That guy had intensity. He hit the 3 too.

No argument. But if you cut him, you're still paying him. The Rockets will not cut Moochie Norris, and I doubt they could trade him even if they wanted to. I doubt they want to, either. If -- and that's a big if -- Maddox makes the team, it will be by beating out Tierre Brown. Moochie may not be anyone's ideal PG, but he's better than 90% of the backup PGs in the league.

He's right about Moochie, we're stuck with him since no one else would be foolish enough to take on his contract. I think Willis would rather play on a contender. We *could* be a contender, but Willis might only have one season left in him. Let's trade him to LAL for Rush. :)

Moochie is one of the best backups in the league and could start on many teams. The only reason he dribbled out the clock so much was because he's not the type of player you set up an iso for and because he was the only player on the court sometimes who had any type of an iso game which the Rockets were so intent on using. I think it's a privalige to keep him and to have him backing up Steve. I don't see our pg position becoming any better.

    G - Francis, Mooch
    G - Mobley, Maddox
F - Rice, Nochbar, Morris or (FA of choice with 5 mil exception)
PF - Taylor, Griffin, Thomas (might be traded for future 1st round next year)
    C - Cato, Ming

IR - Torres, Collier, Morris or other

Maddox can ball for sure....he can play 1 or 2.....
Torres might be out after poor end of season showings
I cannot see Morris on IR, but the 5 mil exception will come into play for a 3/4 who can bring hustle like Malik Rose
