I'd say go with Williams / Smith, Colston / Gonzales

Really, Smith over Thomas Jones? I don't think Brett Favre had THAT much of an impact on the Jets offense last year, particularly the running game. I'm sure the Texans will key on it, but we've seen all too well what their interior d-line looks like. I expect Jones to have a solid day.

Don't think Smith will have a bad day either, but I think Jones is safer.

I don't like Jones this year, I think he's facing a Leon Washington surge that he will have trouble containing, and Shonn Greene is in the mix too. Now he may be able to put up 100 yards and a score on the Texans, but I think Smith will have a much better year.

Nice lil jab at the Texans, but this isn't going to happen.

Dunta is very good at run support and Cushing's return can't hurt the cause.

Oh I fully expect them to do very well on the ground against us, moes is right. Dunta and Cushing might keep them from breaking loose, but they'll still get the yards. We'll just have to contain them to FG's, get pressure on Sanchez when they do pass, and convert our red zone drives into TD's. He might also be right about the Jets run situation, but after the year Jones had it's hard to justify starting Smith over him in week one considering the matchups.

If you are relying on 2 guys that haven't played then...

I guess we'll just wait and see. Leon Washington is getting a lot of pub lately.

Kevin Smith might be a sleeper pick.

Here is a link to a recent fantasy related article on Smith.

Outside of Demeco and Mario, these are our two best playmakers on defense. They'll be fine.

I don't know why you'd think I was trying to take a jab at the Texans.

Its no secret their DT play is substandard to say the least and if they have gap problems they are going to give up chunks of yardage.

Maybe Dunta can play DT!

K yes our DT play has been whatever. They are all under-sized for the most part, but we'll have a few fresh guys rotating at the position.

After the big run by Peterson, we held the best RB in the game in check. It's all about assignments.

I bring up Dunta and Cushing because they will elevate our D in all aspects. We'll really know where we're at after this game.

You think Gonzales will have a better game than Driver? I was banking on Rodgers having a break out party with Driver being the guest of honor

-If Rodgers breaks out it's gonna be mainly cause of Jennings.

As for OP's question you gotta go with D.Williams/Kevin Smith and Colston/Gonzales.

I think Thomas Jones way over-achieved last year in a major way. And like others have stated West Brook jr. aka Leon is gonna steal the show.

Deangelo is gonna be a stud.

Kevin Smith is gonna get a TON of touches in Detroit. I think he'll have a great year as long as he stays healthy.

Colston should put up huge numbers and so he's a no brainer.

Between the other 3... I'd take Gonzalez since he is now Peyton's clear cut number 2 receiver. I'm thinking about 800+ yards and 6 td's. Driver and Holmes will probably put up similar numbers. It's basically a wash between the 3 but I'd AG cause Manning's throwing and his role is increased.

If Rodgers breaks out? Maybe you guys didn't notice he was a top 5 fantasy QB last season. That being said, they have a lot of weapons in that passing game and I think of Donald Driver as more of a yardage receiver typically. Greg Jennings however could end up with 12+ TDs this year. You're in good shape with Rodgers as your QB, I think it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to throw 35+ TDs

As for Gonzalez, I was watching one of the preseason games and Peyton was targeting Gonzalez a lot in the red zone. I think he's going to have a good season. I certainly like his touchdown ability over Driver's.

Moe, since Jones is playing the Texans this week, should I start him over Kevin Smith against New Orleans?
