Iverson says this year is 'so personal' link from espn... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4462209 wow what if he just came back this year and was back to his old form. A lot of teams would regret not giving him more money. how do yall think he will do this year? Im guessing he averages about 23 PPG.
On how many shots? With Iverson, it's not how many points he can score... I have no doubt he could average 30+ if he still wanted to. But the way he gets those points sure as hell doesn't make his team successful.
This reminds me of Nique going to Boston in '94 ... it was quietest and most worthless 26ppg season a person can have, and I don't even think AI will get close to that type of individual production
so personal like he'll personally shoot every shot he possibly can? Like enough shots to establish a world record? Like a shot for every dollar he makes this season? Like a shot for every gain of sand on a beach?
I'd be surprised if Iverson stays a Grizzlie all season. He's not going to like having to share the ball with 3 other offensive players (Randolph, Mayo, Gay).
He HAS been VERY successful. He did take one of the worst rosters ever to the finals, and helped out a solid Nuggets team that had multiple scoring options... He was shooting 46 percent in his last year with the Nuggets. While getting to the line 10 times a game... And having a 7/3 assist to T/O ratio... That IS efficient.
I am talking about Iverson's more recent years. I fully give him a lot of credit for making the Finals with the 76ers. However, using Denver as an example does NOT support your statement whatosever. We are talking about making his team better, not statistics. Look what happened to the Nuggets as a team after he left?
I can't wait to watch the Grizz this year. It is going to be fantastic. I'm giddy just thinking about what will happen on each trip up and down the court.
He never mentioned anything about winning, it was all about AI and wanting to prove that he's still a great player. It can still work if he's willing to come off the bench and sub for Conley and OJ, he can get his 30mpg and put up big stats. The Grizz won't win the title and probably won't make the playoffs but they should be competitive this year.
He did lose a step last year. I don't see him score 20 points a game, even on a lousy team like Memphis.
Thabeet Randolph Gay Mayo Iverson Gasol Arthur Young Jaric Conley Thats pretty damn solid. I can see Thabeet being a 10-10 guy and being a top 3 blocker. Randolph, while he is a cancer, is very productive. Gay and Mayo are both young scorers. Iverson will be able to run with them in my opinion. Then with Gasol, Arthur, Young and Conley off the bench, and Adriana Lima watching from the sideline, thats gonna be a good squad. I see Iverson averaging 15pts and 8ast
i see him as the main scorer with about 20 to 25 points a game... and i think he will have 5-7 assists cause he will probably work good with Chandler
Between Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo, that team doesn't exactly lack volume scorers. They did lack efficient scoring and did lack defense. I am not sure how Allen Iversion helps on these fronts.
The Grizzlies were last in scoring because they only had two capable scorers. In the end, we are talking about a team that won 24 games last year. Iverson is not going to hurt the team at all. We should win 35-45 games depending upon health.
