LoL at ANYONE who can try to say that someone else is better than Fitz right now. And he has to share the ball with Boldin. The only thing I can think of is outside of the superbowl (where he was amazing as well), most of you didn't watch many AZ cards games.
I don't know what that proves. Boulin was gone for much of the season last year. With a healthy Boulin you can expect Fitz's numbers to go down. Will that mean that Larry is less of a WR. The argument is so subjective. What does 'better' mean. Is it physical? If it is you can thrown Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss as freaks of nature who's speed and hands are as good as anyones. WR are subject to the offense and who is throwing them the ball, and without those being equal it really makes it hard to say who is better and who isn't.
what math did you put in you post? that arizona threw 9% more passes? ok - that proved.... absolutely nothing. had you actually run the numbers in your head, you never would have said: or... ...because that's simply not true. hell, as i said in an earlier post - over their past 41 games, johnson has 278 receptions, 21 TDs; fitzgerald 246, 27; boldin 251, 24. so the more accurate statement is that if fitzgerald and boldin were thrown to/caught as many as AJ, they'd have *even more TDs*; it's certainly not that more passes would translate to more TDs for johnson. *he caught more passes as is*. they threw 61 more passes in '07 and 64 in '06. it would have added approximately 131 completions over a 3-year span ('06-'08), adding roughly 9 receptions/year to AJ's totals. that would give him an additional 2 TDs over a 3-year period. so... readjusted: '06-'08: 23.1 TDs. fitz: 27 TDs (in now roughly 60 fewer receptions) boldin: 24 TDs (in now rough 60 fewer receptions) so reasoned responses *that you disagree with* are d******d? really? you're gonna go there this early in the discussion?
The name you are looking for is Boldin. 4 games isn't "much of the season" How about the season where Boldin and Fitzgerald both had 100+ catches and 1400+ yards?
Apparently. I didn't really think calling people dickheads because they had good reason to argue was really called for.
right, and if andre had the opportunity to play on the big stage like that, and play like he is capable of playing (which is equally amazing) then you would be substituting "Fitz" with "dre" . Fitz is getting his props. Andre hasn't and he is, at the very least, equally amazing and Fitz,
The more passes a team throws, the more likely they are to score more passing TDs. Period. You can cite one example, but on the whole it is true. Just the same as a team that hardly ever runs the ball is less likely to have more running TDs than passing. I'm not invoking Texans or Cardinals playcalling here, just simple law of averages. And yes, I did do the math in my head, and yes it did come out to exactly what you posted. But unlike you, I'm not figuring that one season makes my entire argument, nor am I relying on touchdowns as a barometer of how good a WR is. How much are you willing to bet that over the course of their careers, given the current systems they are in, their TD ratios will normalize and probably get VERY close to the same? I'd be willing to say they'll end up closer than further apart. Unless the Texans or Cardinals offense completely falls off a cliff and explodes. I see your points Ric, but like I said, I already considered them before you even posted them, and yet you act like I told you that you're wrong or something. You just like picking fights I guess, because you have a really d*ckheaded way of responding to people or answering questions. You are a very unpleasant person to talk to on this board (even when I'm on your side, which is often), and a ton of posters agree with that. I guess some people are just jerks, or completely not self aware.
For what? Calling you out for circular reasoning? Seems like you could have come up with some sort of rebuttal instead of resorting to name-calling.
and using that same logic - if you catch considerably more passes than any other player in football, you should have more TDs receptions than any other player in football. except... johnson doesn't. in fact, he's nowhere close to being among the league leader in TD receptions. that's a consistent and major discrepency that bears noting. i actually crunched three-year numbers. we can do 33-year numbers if you want - the point stands: he would *not* score appreciably more TDs if the texans simply threw more. neither is anyone else. read any and every andre johnson thread: i've never once argued he's not a great WR. i don't know - does infinity dollars sound fair? because right now, fitzgerald, despite splitting catches with boldin and playing in ten fewer games, has AJ by 13 career TDs. no, i actually told you you were wrong. did somebody bring it up at this week's clutch bbs member meeting, or something? you made the declarative statement, DonnyMost. not once but twice. you even supossedly, *accurately* ran the #s in your head before making the declarative statement, meaning you made it twice knowing it was wrong... and the first time someone calls you out on it, your response is to claim you knew you were wrong all along and to start namecalling? i mean, really - what, exactly, did i post that was d******d-ish? i refuted a claim. i was reasonable in my response - i even broke out a calculator and did math!.... what was d******d-ish about it? really, i'm curious to know because despite me being a d******d, you *still* jumped into the thread, started kicking sand and then got huffy and puffy about it. it's a forum for discussing and debating ideas. you posted one that was wrong, i disputed it... and i'm a d******d. very grand.
Well Moss played with Daunte Culpepper, who has a very good rusher. Then he went to NE which typicall has a decent all around offense. A better question is how much better does Moss make QBs look? Culpepper has been crap without Moss. Brady had his monster season when Moss arrived at NE.
You are all insane. Megatron for the win! : ) (I am somewhat joking....we won't know until he gets some help up in Detroit.)
