It can also be argued that all the attention being given to him (positive or negative) is giving him exactly what he wants.

It’s sad that, in this day and age, all a so-called political pundit has to do to get attention is to say something “provocative” and then wait for all the suckers to jump on it. I would argue that it’s all purposefully and carefully calculated just to get attention and thereby CASH IN.

There’s no such thing as bad publicity. I’m sure Beck is laughing all the way to the bank. His little stunt worked.

Based on the looney-bin birther/teabagger rallies, it appears ignoring him is not working either. Hisotrical anecdotes appear to support this observation - see: Limbaugh, Rush.

 

The domain name should have been in the form of a question, "didglennbeckrapeandmurderagirlin1990.com" The site owner will probably get sued for defamation otherwise.

 

I don't know, I just don't buy it. $$ is the bottom line with all these guys. I don't doubt that he's a kook, but I still think all this is a calculated move to get more attention.

Besides, It's satire. They can't get sued for that. Glenn Beck did have his lawyers sue based their use of his name in the title, claiming it as a brand or trademark or something like that. Agreed. It used to just be Rush Limbaugh and so you had one level of crazy. But now, with multiple people in the mix (Beck, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc), whichever one is the craziest seems to be the most popular, so they all keep trying to outdo each other. So you just get more and more ridiculous stuff out there.

Completely, and this is what I don't get.

Limbaugh, whatever I think about his negative impact on our country and civility and reasoning power, is very talented. He perfectly recognizes and exploits: paranoia, beta males, the natural human tendency to need enemies, and the natural human tendency to have someone else do the thinking.

Beck? Have you ever watched this guy? You just kind of feel sorry for him. Clearly comes across as not very bright. Is all over the map and unorganized. Is it pity that bring people to him? Perhaps the shock value, in that "you just never know what that Glenn Beck is going to say!" Or maybe it's "he's like us" -- under-educated, somewhat flabby, and (on the surface) humble.

 

I heard he murdered then raped her.

 

Glenn Beck is like a monkey that throws crap at the wall hoping something will stick. His whole schtick, like you said, is for shock value, much like Ann Coulter.

 

Call me old-fashioned, but I don't think jokes about rape are funny.
