KT for Christie. It makes sense

It makes sense. We have too many PF's and KT's value is as high as it will get. We probably won't pay KT big bucks either.

Sac is on record as needing to dump salary to sign Bibby. I have seen reports specifically referencing Christie as the person they will dump (which I think is a mistake, unless Turk or Peja can play guard). Rudy said on 610 today that our roster is not set and they're looking at bringing in someone from teams that may be trying to avoid the luxury tax. Christie and Fortson are the only names that I can think of that we'd want. But I don't know if GSW is near the lux tax.

In any case, this trade makes sense for both teams. I think KT is an upgrade from Funderburke, so KT becomes the sub for Webber, and Pollard continues to spell Divac.

Christie would be a perfect fit for us. Cuttino should pass a brick but I'd consider starting Christie and bringing Cuttino off the bench as instant offense. In any event, Christie would be a nice addition. Hate to lose KT, but oh well, gotta give to get.

Anyway, KT deserves to go to a team with good chemistry, where he'll get PT.

    Thoughts?

Gater - does this trade work salary wise? Obviously, we could throw in salary cap filler, like Collier.

Not gonna happen, Rudy has Cat's back and he wouldn't bring in somebody to take his starting spot. Remember, Rudy is on record as saying that Cuttino is going to be a great player. If anything, after hearing that he dodged the "can Ming play down low" question from Jim Rome, I have a feeling that he will look to add some size and defenders for the post, not the perimeter. I would like an enforcer like Oakley, but I think he is going to LA.

How do you dump salary unless you trade him to a team thats below the cap and take nothing in return.

I have to disagree. I vote no to "Crocodile" Christie.

SAC gets weaker in the off-season, possibly, and the Lakers have already made a good move.

    (sigh)

It'd be great to get Christie, but how do we go about this? That is, picking up a player and salary and helping out the other team?

Thing is, probably ten/fifteen teams in the league might be looking to dump salary.

As long as we don't do something stupid like KT + Rice = Keith Van Horn. Could you imagine?

KT + Rice = Brian Grant. (still too many power forwards for us)

    Could be any team, really.

It seems that we're set at the 4 and 5 positions, so I don't see bringing any more big men in. It would make more sense to add a big guard who can defend and provide stops off the bench. We've got plenty of shooters now.

    Aargh!!...

I thought the Rockets had a good enough club last year. We look even better now with the new recruits. WE ARE JUST FINE, thank you. Mostly, as long as we're healthy.
