Blazers to Work Out Juwan Howard, ‘Stro Portland is looking to sign a big man (or two), and they’re bringing in a couple of vets before making a decision: Veterans Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift will audition for the Trail Blazers next week as the team looks to sign a backup power forward before training camp opens at the end of the month … Both will scrimmage with current Blazers players over the next three weeks, and general manager Kevin Pritchard said he expects the team will sign one, or two, players before training camp starts on Sept. 28. The NBA allows teams to carry as many as 15 players; the Blazers have 12 players under contract, which doesn’t include rookie Jeff Pendergraph, who Pritchard said is ‘getting close’ to signing.” http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2009/09/blazers-to-work-out-juwan-howard-stro/
What's next, Morey's fired intern? The guy who forgot to get a half-decaf, soy milk latte with a pint size shot of blood freshly collected from Chris Wallace?
Hey, if we're hotly debating the 13th and 14th guys on the team, I'm gonna take that as a good thing.
Juwon doesn't deserve this verbal treatment (using his name in the same sentence as Stromile Swift)! Howard at least had his good days. Stromile has pretty much always been a useless sack of poo.
Just curious, but do you guys think Stro/Howard would crack the rotation on the Blazers? I certainly don't... this seems like a injury reserve/just in case type of signing.
Wasnt Steve Francis supposedly hard at work attempting to come back into the league? How he mighty have fallen when he's less sought after than Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift.
I think they might have a hard time even making your 15 man roster. Howard maybe would get a deal if Prichard wants some sort of "veteran presence". But in terms of playing ability both are nowhere near rotation material.
I'm assuming you are from ISH. Anyways both guys suck. Juwan has some sort of weird curse following him around as well.
