NJRocket, $10 seems too little. How about $20? Anyone work in marketing? Maybe they could put together some numbers that Clutch could plug into a front page poll (e.g. - How much would you donate for a chance at two tickets to Yao's opening game and dinner for two at Morton's?)

The tipjar page is not prominent enough for newer visitors.

Something like the paypal buttons on this web page (http://www.vcdhelp.com/donate), at the bottom or top of the main BBS forum page, wouldn't be too intrusive.

Heh, there is no such thing as "underage" with Paypal. As long as you have a credit card, something that functions like a credit card (visa check card) or a checking account, u can open an account. They don't seem to care, but I guess they have sort of a don't ask, don't tell policy.

We should have a private auction for the tickets-combo.

Depond on tomorrow's result, I will pledge 20 - 30.

Thank you all, Clutch and other crew members !!!

BTW, besides the financial help, Clutch may need tech help, too. For example, image some software upgrade can boost this this BBS to support >2000 threads at the same time, wow !!!

Any idea on this?

Yep, that money order idea does sound good. Count me in for 15-20 bucks in the next week or two. I like the raffle idea too. Maybe you could add some Ming autographed memorabilia in there.

Here are a couple of thoughts. If you get paid by the hour and can get your boss to let you work an extra hour each week. Do that and then donate that wage.

Now if you cant get your boss to do that then show up 4 minutes late, leave 4 minutes early, and take 4 more minutes for lunch each day. over a 5 day week thats a full hour which you got paid for but didnt work so donate the money from that hour to clutch
(note: dont get fired though. I dont recomend the second of my 2 ideas. Go with the first option)

Clutch or Jeff,
Is there a way we could get confirmation from clutchcity.net that you actually received our donations? Paypal sent confirmation...I just have never heard of them. No big deal either way.
Thanks

i sent some yesterday, but had no idea $2000 was the goal...i honestly had a hard time assessing what would be a reasonable donation...

you may have addressed this before...but how much is this actually costing you?? i don't want you to divulge personal financial information!!! but a better understanding of what is needed would be helpful...an idea of what it costs to run this thing each month...what you're out of pocket each month...would be helpful.

awesome idea about contributor status

as far as money....how much to donate....what ever you can spare. if $10 is your limit...that is awesome and probably covers something good...everything helps.......

i understand that ....but let's say i have more to donate than $10...what if i say, i'd like to cover one month's expenses for the site...how much would i donate to do that??? i want to send in what's needed...but i'm not interested in sending in a ton over that amount...just trying to get a better idea.
