Great! Would love to see some reports on how it goes. Things I would like to know are...... 1) Will he play with the Rockets THIS season. In other words fork over some of his contract to buy out the contract he has now with his Bennetton team. Hopefully he will! 2) Will he participate on our Summer league team? I really hope so. The sooner he gets to know the players, play with them and learn their tendencies etc, the better off he will be. I really see him as a SOLID contributor on the team this coming season. I see him as a solid member of the rotation as one of the first people off of the bench. Perhaps he can even push Rice for the starters job. Chris
Rockets assistant coach Jim Boylen said that he expects to have "two of our rookies" play in the summer league. We can take that to mean that Nachbar and Maddox WILL play in the summer league. (I expect both will shine) Go Boki!!!!!!
I believe Nachbar has said he plans to play this year. His buyout is $1 Million. The Rockets can pick up $350K of that. That means he will need to pay $650K out of pocket. The salary slot for the 15th spot is $1.082 Million +/- 20%. Assuming the Rockets bump him up to the rookie max, $650K is approximately half his salary for the upcoming year. I guess Ming is not the only one
That's no big deal. Pau Gasol had to basically pay his entire first year salary to buy out his deal in Spain.
All Nachbar has to do is sign his 3yr 100% guaranteed contract worth nearly $3.8m (max) and walk into any bank and say he needs a $500K loan and slap the contract down as collateral. Banks would be scrambling to give him a secured loan at interest...that's how they make money. They'd probably say, "hey, why not take a cool million and buy a house with the extra half. you need anything else, Mr. Nachbar, just call...here's my card." btw: if the rockets pick up his 4th yr of this guaranteed contract, he lands another ~$2m for that year (at max base).
That works for me. Nachbar will be here. Always the information source Heypee. Oh by the way I have to give you your props. You suggested Ming months ago when most of us knew verylittle about him and I personally didn't even consider him an option.
Nachbar said he would buy his way out of his contract. He will pay 650 thousand of his own money. I love this kid's attitude.
I love his attitude as well, but all euro players use their own money to buy out their contracts, where else are they gonna find the money, who else would be willing to pay?
I'm so thankful that we're getting couple of players with the right, team-oriented attitude. I hope their humility is contagious. Nachbar is gonna be a stud.
