In the earlier part of his career,he wasn't dirty. Later on he gained notoriety for his illegal tactics.
Weak clip. He wasn't even looking at Francis when Francis landed on top of his foot. I never understood the big deal Bowen detractors place behind that play -- they act like defenders closing out on a shooter have never made contact like that before. Plus, I remember that little skirmish he had with Chris Paul quite vividly. What people fail to remember or recognize is CP3's little fist/forearm below the belt. After all, it isn't like CP3 has a squeaky clean image in the 'clean play' department. Classic case of guilt by association. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hZNwSC_6H90&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hZNwSC_6H90&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object
People here in San Antonio are die hard fans... if you say even the slightest thing that may insult the Spurs or any of their players in any way, be prepared to get knocked out... it's pretty crazy.
You had me at first, but then when I finished your post, I was left feeling like you're DEFENDING Bruce Bowen. Criticizing Chris Paul's immaturity is one thing, but let's just make sure we don't come across as defending Bowen here. To Bowen, I'd say congrats on a successful career, but stay gone, you hack.
When he played with good intentions, he was a great defender. In his last years, Bruce Bruce was a dirty SOB. Eventually players started calling him out and physically giving him the business. I'm glad he's out of the league. One less factor to worry about in terms of potential for injuries.
Haha....say what you will, I was and will continue to defend Bowen. Bowen was great at what he did. How many role players across the league are legitimately GREAT at what they do? I mean, championship-level-great. I don't view a few jersey tugs or minor handchecks in a league that baby's perimeter players as 'dirty'. He was such a great defender and so great at getting under his opponent's skin that anything he did was magnified like crazy. If Bowen was on the Rockets I guarantee everybody on this forum would love him.
yah theres alot of a-hole spurs fans and its funny because they kinda ignore rocket fans for some reason but give hell to mavs and laker fans i went to the game the spurs got elimanted vs the mavs throughout the arena there were chants of F the mavs after the game and at least saw 3 fights within spurs fans and mavs fans after the game i also saw a car got messed up(broken windows) with mavs flags outside of the window
Napalm_black: Thank you so much for posting your sig. That annoys the heck out of me, as well. Unfortunately, I don't believe it's a typo in most cases.
Morey should hire Bruise Bowen as an assistant coach so that young Ariza can learn all of the defensive tricks from true masters Battier and Bowen.
Outside of San Antonio no one respects his play. All of his hard work will always be out done by his dirty tactics.
