I think he's too lazy to jump. But its nice to see his form is nice and smooth. I can't wait til he's healthy again.
this was taken a long time ago. When they showed his jumpshots it was shown in week 1. Now who knows how much lift he has on that j now. But i am surprised by his prgress.
Well, first off, the 1st video is over almost 2 months old now. Secondly, the man just had microfracture knee surgery! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kWJYdwG8Ik The link above was the first video released of Tmac's rehab. Compare that video to week 4 which is maybe a few weeks old now and you can really see the difference. (must register and login to see these videos) http://www.skillzlab.com/Lab/5/Dr-Z...04/Sneak-Peak-Of-T-Mac-Rehab-Videoz/Video/265 http://www.skillzlab.com/Lab/5/Dr-Z...04/Sneak-Peak-Of-T-Mac-Rehab-Videoz/Video/262 I think considering its only been 6 months since his microfracture surgery and only a couple of months since his shoulder surgery, I would say Tmac is doing okay. From what Morey said, he's ahead of schedule and playing 5 on 5 ball. However, with microfracture surgery, you have to be careful. One day you can feel great, the next day there could be pain and swelling (from what I've heard). I think Morey wants to be cautious with Tmac and bring him back by December. That may also be why you don't see him jumping very high on his jumpers and dunks. He is probably doing his basketball stuff after lifting weights and rehabbing the knee and shoulder, so it wouldn't be a good idea to push him too hard when he's already been through a hard workout with Tim Grover. Also, this may make yall feel a lil better...Tmac and Tim Grover talking about what they expect out Tmac... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGNf4DLBmaU I think he'll be okay...doubt he'll jump like he did in Toronto though...no substitute for young legs. But I think he can easily be as good as he was in 06-07 or 07-08.
dude, this video is old, you guys don't remember seeing most of this in another thread, it's actually less footage than the first one, but all of the footage in this one was cut from the last one, they must be some lazy bastards over at dime mag. the first vid showed him dunking too, flat footed reverse under the basket.
Yeah video looks old about 2months ago. He doing everything the right way this time hopefully everything translate 2 the court. 09-10 Comeback player of the year.
um... he's shooting jumpers in PRACTICE in those videos? why the hell do you want him to jump the way he normally shoots in a game? WHO DOES THAT? have you seen NBA players in shootarounds? they barely jump on their jumpshots like they do in real games. but it's also obvious tracy's explosiveness isn't quite there in the vid yet.
I posted all those ideos in another T-Mac's thread. So it has been already posted and it is pretty old. He had no lift, I agree but as I mention it was taken few weeks or even month ago. Morey told us, he is already playing 5 on 5 so I guess he looks better now.
i'm beginning to think that every time TMAC has said he's out to "prove his critics wrong", he hasnt meant it. Apparently, every summer he's been with the Rockets (except last summer), he worked out "the hardest he ever has". I remember the year he went out with all of the back spasms, media said that summer was the hardest he had ever trained in the off season. I think that was all crap. I think this time, since his career is finally on the line and it IS a contract year, he decided to actually work his a$$ off and show that he's got something left in the tank. If he puts up 25+ ppg and plays 70+ games, you guys think we should extend his contract for a couple years? Maybe a 3 yr, $30 mil contract?
this isnt shoot around. who does that? people talking about an NBA comeback from a surgery that is career threatening....yeah, it could be that he's just lazy and just shootin around casually for the cameras....i hope that wasnt his best effort cuz that would mean we're still looking at a march comeback for him. rehab is hard work...dont confuse it with an nba shootaround.
Not sticking up for Mac, but its tough to get that lift back after knee surgery. I'm speaking from experience. So what I saw in those videos seems like he's doing fine. I'm sure Tim G's the one who told him to take it easy and dont go all out.
I was thinking the same exact thing. When i shoot baskets practicing, i dont jump much, but when i play a game i jump more..kinda natural not to waste that much energy shooting by yourself rather than trying to shoot over some one..explosiveness will come with time..luckily the surgery was not on a load bearing part of his knee..so he will be t mac again...GO ROCKETS!!!
Now I wanna see a video of Yao Ming sitting in his chair shooting FT's and making the gym shake. That was funny.
that's not the point. it's instinctive to shoot like that when you're just shooting around, or even open shots in a real game. you really think tracy jumps as high as he does on EVERY jumpshot, even in real games? players only truly elevate on their jumpshots when they take contested jumpers. and that's the purpose of 5-on-5 or scrimmage games for tracy. shooting around or doing drills by himself aren't going to make him ready. playing 5-on-5, going against some type of competition to test that knee when he DOES have to elevate for that jumper, jump down and take some contact... (things like that) will determine when he's ready.
Saw the video of week 5! he is gonna be back this season no doubt about it! His shooting touch and motion is looking good, kinda reminded me of Arenas shooting 3s with less effort, his first step is gettin' there, I also saw his jump hook move, maybe he is adding up some post-up moves so that he will not be forcing his way inside the lane. The only question remaining is if he's gonna be committed on his workout ethics, how determined he is to get in really good shape, he still got a flabby belly and he gotta tone it down. When Kobe went to Chicago for a workout, Kobe maintained his workout ethics, toned down his body weight, and added new techniques to improve his game in such way that it will not take a toll on his body. I'm more interested to see the new and improved T-Mac, shooting 3s with less dribble and effort, moving without the ball more often, gettin' to the free-throw line more with an improved FT%, playing decoy to set up open shots for Brooks, Ariza, and Battier, And more importantly the swagger and intencity on every play that he will make. He may not get to average more than 20pts a game this season, but if he can make his teammates perform in a much higher level than they are capable of, and make his team a threat to the playoffs, Then I will not label that as a successful comeback because I really don't want to see the old T-Mac, I want to see his FULL potential, the way he is supposed to be in his prime, I wanna see what you all wanna see in him, and that's the makings of a champion! The skills, mentality, and heart of a champion!
