I thought the show stunk. I was in and out doing housework and childcare but I picked up very little of the prognosticating that used to go on. I know it's because the missed so often that their cherished lofty status as experts was being eroded..... but hey that's the fun in it. The uncertainty. The surprise. Have some fun fellas... like CB.
Naw, he said "Houston I come". He didn't get Ming on the end. Working the name in there is what makes the tag line. If he had said it we would have seen the clip in the all the ads for season tickets. (I bet Les even planned for him to say it and he just blew the line) GP
Did anyone notice that after Charles and Smith went on and on about the foreign players having better basic skills then the college players and then Charles asked Snyder why they were not doing a better job. After Snyder explained that the international players could have practices 2 a day for 365 days a year with a coach, while he was not allowed to even see his players in a gym right now, and even limited on the number of hours he can practice his kids during the season. I notice that subject was dropped after that.
The euros teach very sound fundamentals at a young age. Then , they throw em' into play with grown men at an age that most of our players are juniors in high school. This is just the beginning. Everyone thank Mr. Jordan.
Everything I wanted to add has been expressed already by others, but I just wanted to heartily agree. I like Kenny, but I was cussing at him last night. I also cracked up when David Stern made that wisecrack at them; that was perfect. Did anyone else also notice Charles' bit about how you can't buy anthing for $125 "where I work?" All I could think was, "wow, Charles, are you out of touch with the common person on the street or what?" I understand where he was trying to go with his remarks, but it just emphasized the type of wealth that he finds normative now.
ROTFLMAO!!! Classic signature material there... It seems like Kenny's been bitter for a very long time. He was obviously jealous of Francis' status with the Rockets back at the 2000 dunk contest when he declared the contest "over" repeatedly before Stevie even attempted his first dunk. BTW, who in the hell was that guy on the far right? I never caught his name. He looked kind of like Eric Stoltz...
I wonder if he was complaining about to many foreign players when Dream was handing him championship rings.

Everyone thank Mr. Jordan Don't blame Jordan for the lack of fundamentals coming out of the high schools and college. Jordan was as fundamentally sound as they come. He just happened to also posses the most freakish atheletic ability and desire to win the sport has ever seen. If you want to blame anyone try the NBA marketing machine and the youth themselves for their lack of fundamentals
Roarke, I wasn't attributing the Americans' decline to MJ. I was referring to globalization of basketball due to MJ's popularity. Sorry, for not being more clear.
The part that Kenny must hate the most is that Justin Timberlake made that shot over him. A new Rookie even made fun of him last night. And Kenny can't say ****. Sorry Kenny, but the international players are just better that US players. The marketing machine in the US has all the US players trying to learn how to do the spectacular, and not practicing a basic pass(assist). One on One is killing the US game, that game is staying undrafted. Even the best US players Drafted are fundemental euro like players(Battier,Jay Will, Dunlevy).
exactly, jingoistic/nationalist, not racist. kenny was on the championship teams and is a former rocket so i like him a lot. he hit that 3 against orlando in game one to force overtime so i really like him. he and charles are awesome on tnt so i like him. he was a little annoying with the foreign bashing but that doesn't change the fact i really like him. and david stern's crack has to go down in the hall of fame of slams or something. that was just unbelievably funny. especially cuz in the chat people had been saying the same thing but to actually get up on national tv and say it. at first i couldn't even believe he said it and then i was laughing for like a solid minute. even though david stern is evil, i have some respect for him and he definitely seems to be the best commissioner going. seriously, can you see selig or tagliabue making that comment. beautiful.
There's always been foreign players in the NBA: Dream (Nigeria) Ewing (Bermuda), Duncan (Virgin Islands), Rick Smits (Holland), Detlef Shremf (Germany) etc. The difference is that all these players first went to an NCAA program, before going to the NBA. That was because NCAA was better than most international competetions. That's no longer the case. NCAA sucks for reasons I am not going to discuss here and the international scene looks much better. That's why teams are drafting from abroad.
