I agree 100%. The guy loves football so much that he is willing to sacrifice his aging body just so he can play another year. I would do the same if I could.

Really? Would you lie one year and say "That's it for me" and quit, but then come back the same off season and say "I want to play" and then call it quits again just to come back with the hated rivals? You'd do that?

A lot of people get mad at Brett Favre because they think he is purposely holding teams hostage with his indecision to play. They think that he is a media w**** who wants attention. The reality of the situation is that is when you are old it is very hard to know if your body can withstand the pain and rigors of your chosen sport, especially if that sport is as rigorous as football. It’s not just muscle soreness that a 39-year-old player goes through, but joint soreness as well. I wouldn’t doubt that he has arthritis in every joint of his body.

At the beginning of the year he has to make a decision to perform at a level that other people his age can’t. That means increasing the intensity of the training. He might have a couple of training sessions that go well, but maybe the third might make him feel indecisive. Is he indecisive? Yes, but so would anyone else at that age. It’s not like he is an aging star that can’t compete anymore, but still wants to play. In fact, it’s the opposite, he is not sure whether he can play, but teams still feel that he is valuable enough to lead them into the playoffs.

Anyone that is 39 years old or older will understand exactly what the guy is going through. Those people not only understand his indecisiveness, but also respect him for doing things that others at that age could not do.

To each his own. To me, he comes off as this pompous, selfish jackass that loves to put himself in the spotlights and loves the attention any way he can get it. ESPN, in turn, eats it up and reports anything he may or may not do every single day.

Take last night for example. All the announcers ever said was Favre this, Favre that. He even intentionally threw that low block on Eugene Wilson. I congratulate him for all he has accomplished in his career and all the records he has set, but I have lost respect for him.

Favre isn't the only player to have this dilemma, he's just the only one who's handled it this poorly.

Again Favre homers fail to get the point, nobody hates him because of his age. People hate him because he is an attention w**** who resorts to playing mind games with his team every offseason about his retirement for 3 or 4 years now. The guy is not that good anymore and is definitely not worth the media circus he brings with him where ever he goes. The Jets unloaded his diasterous expiriment last season, now they finally have a good up and coming young QB in Sanchez. That is what dumb teams like Minneasota fail to realize, they are not even an elite team in the NFC and what difference is a one year rental like Favre going to make? How many more wins are you getting with Favre than say Sage or Tavaris? This kind of short term thinking is why the Vikings are going remain a bottom bracket playoffs team in the long run because they do not have the pieces to win a Superbowl and thus will end up losing Peterson to a contender sooner or later.

Think he is?? Uh, he is

Once again, they would be right - he is a media w****.

I don't necessarily disagree with you on this but that should be a sign to him that it is time to hang it up. He needs to work on closure, obviously.

Once again, I would not disagree but why should he get away without going through training camp? I don't care who he is, he should go through training camp like everyone else on his team. Maybe that is why there have been whispers that Favre is a chemistry killer on the teams he plays simply because he is unwilling to do what it takes to bond with teammates.

Well if it is getting to the point where he is breaking down physically or getting to that point then it is time to hang the cleats up, Brett. Maybe he wants to be like Jim Otto, a guy who played so long and has such bad knees that he can't even get out of the bed without major help. And you don't think 39 is aging? Other than George Blanda, I don't know many QBs that played in the NFL in their 40s. And other than the Vikings, I don't know if there really is a market out there for Favre - maybe 2 or 3 other teams but I doubt there are teams that would be banging his door down in asking him to play for them.

BS. Anyone that is 39 is probably, no not probably, is smart enough to know that it is time to move on and go on to something else in life. Elway could have easily played a couple of more seasons when he retired and I think he was 38 when he called it quits. He definitely had something that Favre didn't have - he was decisive. And you are going to be in the minority if you think that indecisiveness is something that people will understand. Believe me, indecisiveness is not a good trait to have whether you are a leader of a nation, a prospective boyfriend for a hot chick, or an "aging star" in the NFL.

I hope that he remains hurt most of the season and is as ineffective as a broken condom on Michelle Duggar. Would serve him and Brad Childress right.
