First time to ever play PPR. From the research I've done it looks like taking a RB first is the best way to go (at least from the #4 pick). My reasoning is there are more quality receivers in this format than RBs. If I take a RB first, I can still get a good receiver at 21. If I take a WR first, the RB I'm left with at 21 will likely not yield a better combination of RB/WR.

With that in mind, I'm looking hard at Steven Jackson at 4. I figure him or Forte should be available, and I'm leaning towards SJ. My reasoning is the OL could not be any worse than it was last year (in fact I think it's pretty improved). I also think Forte's rookie year was so good that it would be hard for him to match that this year, along with the possibility that Cutler may not throw to him as much as Orton did. SJ was #4 per game in fantasy points last year in a PPR format while Forte was third I think.

I'm assuming MJD will be gone.

    Thoughts?

In my opinion I would go Forte because he accounts so much for the Bears offense. SJ was a bad pick for me last year and I still have that bad taste in my mouth, although I did win!

I had #4 in my draft too in a 12 man money draft. That is the toughest pick of the whole damn draft. I went Forte although my gut said different.

Here was my first few picks using #4

    1. Matt Forte
    2. Reggie Wayne
    3. Calvin Johnson
    4. Joeseph Addai
    5. Antonio Gates
    6. Ben Roethes...
    7. Carson Palmer
    8. Torry Holt

FYI I would have loved to get the Vikings Defense...I think they are going to be great this year.

I'd go Forte. Jackson is always an injury risk and Forte looks dynamite for PPR.

I was in the same boat. I had the number 4 pick as well and I was torn. We have a PPR league as well and I just couldn't decide what the hell to do. I probably should have taken Forte, but I took Westbrook. He's always been money for me and I don't think his injuries/surgeries are going to slow him down much this year. I'll probably be kicking myself for this, but I hope this decision pays off.

Calvin Johnson in the 3rd round? If I knew he would be available I'd probably just take Brady first or something.

If Calvin Johnson lasted til the 3rd round, chances are Brady was picked up before him..

As others have said, go with Forte especially since he has a better quarterback in place now.
