Just wondering what the consensus was on this subject.

The way I see it, Ming and Nachbar both bring something that this team so desprately needs: team first, me second team players.

Is this going to kill the street ball ISO style of basketball that this team loves to play? Will we FINALLY adapt more movement and picks into our offensive scheme?

    God I sure hope so.

Im ready for a Ming to Francis fast break!!

I don't think they will kill it, because Nachbar himself can create and use iso's to score.

I do think they will open the game up to other options. The Rockets need that a lot. Iso's won't disappear but they also will no longer be the only option. IMHO

I think you will see a gradual return to the '94 - '95 system, with Rudy relying on the post as the focal point to get shots for other guys, and using Steve and Cuttino to penetrate and run the break. That is Rudy T's #1 offense that won us two rings. He is going to dust it off and start getting it going again.

I see Eddie Griffin emerging as a Robert Horry type in that system - long, quick defender, athletic, rebounder, good outside shooter. BUT, Griffin also has a great post game, so it gives the Rockets other options.

Francis will be a Cassell - type --- quick, penetrator, good shooter, and spark plug.

Cuttino will fill the same role as Vernon Maxwell and Clyde - great on the break, filling it up from the outside, but can take it inside and beat his man off the dribble when necessary. The only thing he lacks is the defensive ability. Hopefully, he will develop it more.

Cato will be used as a PF sometimes, just for rebounding and defensive purposes. We won't need him to score, but he will get a lot of garbage points on put-backs and open dunks due to double teams on Ming.

Mo T - I'm not sure where he fits into this team in a couple of years. I guess he's a scoring threat but he has no post game and almost zero rebounding ability. It'll be interesting to see what happens with him.

Couldn't agree more. The ISO is in part a symptom of the EGO. Francis and Mobley have brought us plenty of talent but also plenty of selfishness. Ideally, they'll make Yao a little more aggressive, and he'll make them a little more team-oriented.

This most definately will work in the Rockets favor. I think one thing that should be pointed out is do you guys remember in Dream's final season here when the Rockets were close to making the playoffs that the production from Hakeem seemed to be the difference maker? Well I believe if Ming is just as productive as Dream in that point of the season Ming will be a successful pick for this team.
