My guess is the first place GS would call up would be Phoenix. They've been trying to trade for Amare since the draft & they may think this gives them a better chance of landing him since SJ wants out. Key word think... I'd take him straight up for Battier but I doubt GS would go for that.
That would place the Rockets $1M more over LT. All the Warriors are getting back is just Landry. It's a bad idea for both sides.
Who cares about luxury tax? Les is making a ton of money by just having Yao and Tracy injured.... If it helps us win in the future, just pay it, Cuban style...
From your posts you clearly want Jax here. Trading for him with the contract he has is just not smart. If he was thought to be the final piece for a title run, or a couple years younger then MAYBE. He just doesn't make us that much better IMO. 4 more years is too much. I think this is the perfect chance to see if JT and C-Bud can play. Luxary tax for this guy is not the way to go. And "Cuban style" come on, Les has won, Cuban has not. I know you feel like Jax makes the Rockets better and I appreciate your idea, It's just not a good move IMO
The only good thing about S-Jax is that he can play offense and facilitate while TMac's out...i like him but financially, dunno.
1. Obviously. 2. Why? 3. If Ron Artest and Yao can take us as far as they did last year, Why not Stephen Jackson, Yao and Tracy Mcgrady? 4. Four more years of Stephen Jackson is a perfect number, for Yao, and for Tracy. Stephen Jackson's game is not based on athleticism, it is based on effort and a super high IQ. He will not fall off the earth in the next few years... 5. Chase and JT? I am going to let you in on something, Chase and JT will NEVER be CLOSE to the player that Stephen Jackson is now. And we want to win NOW. 6. Les won 15 YEARS AGO...Cuban had the Mavs in the finals...I hate Cuban, but he is a FANTASTIC owner... 7. Agree to disagree. Stephen Jackson brings the neccesary D, O, Effort, and IQ to fit this team like a glove, not to mention the toughness that we are going to need come playoff time. And yes, we will be in the playoffs this year...
Personally I am not a huge fan of SJax. Don't take it wrong but I dun see him as a good match with our young guns. Dude is no more the punk he used to be but still I think if we wait we'll get a better option there. Patience young padawans!
well basically no there isnt.....landry is the best trade chip we have to offer in a jackson trade. Jackson's contract is as bad as Maggette's but u know they would want some actual player value back in return and I've LOOOVE to get Brandon Wright on this team. Who else can we trade in a S-Jack??? Battier??? no way Morey does that...
I wouldn't mind having Stephen Jackson on my team, despite his flaws. The Rockets had Artest, a guy with similar skills and flaws, and as a fan, I thought last year was a pretty successful and fun year. The thing is, however, that the Rockets declined to offer 29-year-old Artest a long-term contract in light of Yao's uncertain healthy. So, I imagine they would similarly decline to essentially offer 31-year-old Jackson the same contract under the circumstances.
This is absolutely a long shot when he said he want to move to one of the Texan teams, Miami.... Long way to go. I meant there will be other good players who will be available and not complacent about their situation. No point just targeting one guy only.
PG - SJackson SG - TMac SF - Ariza McGrady - 5 apg Jacko - 6.5 apg Ariza - 1.8 apg (I expect this number to reach no less than 2.5) However, when comparing to last year PG - Brooks - 3 apg SG - Artest - 3.3 apg SF - Battier - 2.3 apg 14.3 apg with the return of T-Mac, and additions of both Ariza and Jacko vs. 8.6 apg with Brooks, Artest, and Battier
Maybe you should also talk about how effecient he is off the bench. Trevor for Jackson,Maggette, and Ariza could all play 32mins and take of all the scoring the team needs from those 2 spots.
you'd be mightily disappointed... trevor is mostly a spot up shooter and a finisher on fastbreak offense...his ballhandling and court vision is nowhere good enuf to be over 2.5 assists per game... shane only got about 2 or 3 assists per game average and he was the number one ball dumper to yao and he just was able to use his angle at the corner to dump the ball to yao for some easy assists...now that we don't have yao...........
I completely agree with your reasoning, but understand this is offseason optimism. However, Battier put up 2.3 apg so I expect the same production out of Ariza, at least. However, the rocket's, being without yao and addition of Anderson, game has shifted from feeding the ball down low to yao, to a faster paced game with a lot more passing. Furthermore, Ariza played in the shadow of Bryant. The man makes his own shots and is capabale of scoring half the team's points. Playing on a team without an all-star, disregarding T-Mac's return schedule, you'd almost have to expect an increase in Ariza's assists category without Bryant on the court. Or, maybe I'm just being too optimistic. Ariza -- 2.5(+) apg
