For too long in the past few months, this forum has been filled with naysayers.

I've been trying to tell you guys for MONTHS that the #1 priority is to get this guy... and now we have him!!

If by #1 priority you mean a low post player that shoots a stagering 41% (career) from the field then yes.

In the final game of his senior season, Mensah-Bonsu looked unimpressive against two NBA-caliber big men in Josh McRoberts and Shelden Williams. Clearly not 100% after his knee injury, he was unable to hold his position in the post, and didn’t show any skills when he received the ball in the post. Mensah-Bonsu had 2 of his shots swatted away by Williams, who along with McRoberts, pushed him on the other end of the floor. The Duke duo finished with 31 points combined. From what we’ve seen all year long in the way he has just not improved whatsoever from his junior season, things aren’t looking good for Pops. Right now he lacks fundamentals on either end of the court, and much of his college production resulted from his outstanding athleticism. Pops Mensah-Bonsu will need to show that he has the potential to develop some skills if he wishes to have a career in the NBA, and he needs to do it quickly.

On a brighter note, I hear this guy has just as many fouls to give as any other NBA player.

It's much harder to produce in limited minutes...anyone who actually plays basketball can tell you that.

So consider that when Pops played between 20 and 30 minutes last season, he put up very solid numbers...

    11.2 ppg
    7.8 rpg (4.3 offensive)
    1.2 spg
    .462 FG%
    .704 FT%

That was in just 22.5 minutes per game, which puts him at least in Landry/Scola territory in terms of front court production. Granted, the sample size is very small (6 games), but it's promising nonetheless.

It's not that we are doubting. I'm not the one to doubt. I'm usually optimistic about this things. But what exactly do you thing will happen? He suddenly becomes a 13/12 type player?? That carries us to the playoffs.

whoa whoa whoa, this aint my batman glass lois...

anywho, lets not get carried away here. to think that he's gonna solve our problems is ridiculous nonetheless. i'm not doubting he can help, just the belief that he'll contribute more than he's shown thus far in his career. love his energy though

Looking pretty good for Landry and maybe Dorsey to be leaving soon. Pops might b/u at 4 as much as 5. Just my $0.02.
