Various songs off the Dreams compilation set by The Allman Brothers Band The Shape of Jazz to Come - Ornette Coleman ...And Then There Was Three - Genesis Masque - Kansas Berlin - Lou Reed
Just listened to the new Jet, Shaka Rock. I liked it, it's a rockin' disc but none of the hooks really stayed with me. The AC/DC clone review in Rolling Stone is unjustified I think. There are some individual sounding tunes on there.
The Lion Constellation - Flashing Light <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/mWpAsEs8Wbs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/mWpAsEs8Wbs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> Like The Jesus and Mary Chain meets The Black Angels.
dando, Those Billboard discs are good. I must have owned every 70's compilation CD that has ever existed. Everytime I see one in the bargain bin, I can't help myself. BTW, the holy grail of 70's compilation sets, is the "Have a Nice Decade" series. If you can find the individual discs, then even better!
Went out at lunch and bought the Allman Brothers Band "Live at Fillmore East" CD, so in addition to that CD, also listening to: Islands - King Crimson Hot Rats - Frank Zappa (finally came today after an insanely long wait!) Lust for Life - Iggy Pop (may have to get to that tomorrow though)
Guilty pleasure time: The High Contrast remix of Calvin Harris' Ready For the Weekend. <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/HNsXHVeQv3g&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/HNsXHVeQv3g&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
if you like that album you'll hate their first 2 albums, b/c the first 2 are fantastic and their newest one sucks balls. i'm usually not one to give a **** if a band decides to sell out or whatnot, but the way these guys sold out so damn quickly so damn hard it's difficult for me not to hate them now.... and that's a shame b/c aha shake heartbreak and youth and young manhood are phenomenal albums. /rant
Oh, I have like 16 out of the 24 or so CDs that are available. Great stuff! EVERYBODY WAS.....................KUNG FU FIGHTING! HUAH!
