Really depends on how big your house is, I would imagine. We used to use a maid every other week (similar to what Blake does) but we decided to drop her and save a little bit of money and do the cleaning ourselves. It seems like every weekend we are cleaning house! We have 2 dogs and a cat that live inside and they shed hair like crazy (especially one of our dogs). Luckily for us we have hardwood floors but you can vacuum and a day later, it looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in weeks! Our biggest problem is laundry - it seems like it never stops, especially with a baby in the mix. We always have clothes, it seems, in the washer, the dryer, the hamper, on the rack drying, and in baskets to be put up. When we are finally able to get all the clothes put up, then we have an overflowing hamper of dirty clothes that need to be washed, lol. Also, our 9 year old is still at the stage where she "stroes" stuff or in other words, she just leaves things wherever she feels like. We have talked and talked and tried to do things about this with her but it still happens. I don't think she can really help it because she is a pretty messy and disorganized child.
we are paying $80 for one in s. austin in a 2200 sq/ft house I held out as long as possible on getting one, but once we had a baby I knew it was time. doing the dusting, mopping, bathrooms, etc wasn't worth it. We still do the laundry, dishes, daily stuff
Depends how close you are to the border. Growing up in the valley, we always had live-in maids. I don't remember what my dad used to pay, but I know it was less than minimum wage.
We have a similar situation. Laundry never stops. My 9 year old daughter now helps by doing her own laundry and loading and unloading the dishwasher. Still has a hard time keeping her room real neat though.
maid twice a wk?!?! that's alot! we're about every two weeks for vacuum, full kitchen, dusting, etc and about monthly or before guests come over for toilet/bathroom. laundry, trash, pick up, dishes, etc are pretty much all the time.
looks like more you ya'll use maids than I thought. I might have to look into it...if it's cost effective.
