I remember a while back Oil, or Doc, said that there was still a possibility of getting odom without trading the #1 pick. Is that still true? We haven't heard much on the 15th pick.....I think Nachbar is a smoke screen.....every year the rockets talk up one guy and all the mock drafts have us taking that guy then we do something totally different...ie..horry, turkan, drew, KT.....The #1 is different....you don't need a smoke screen because you can take who you want and nobody can steal them from you.
Odom is not on the block. Baylor still believes in him, and word is that Miles is being shopped instead. The deal apparently is #8,12 and Miles for #6 and Andre Miller.
Well if the rumor about Odom for Snow had any truth to it then that would appear that Odom is available. Besides if I were Cle, I would want Odom over Miles anyday of the week. Especially if were going to lose Miller AND #6.
I agree. If we keep the 15 I think we'll get Welsch because he is the one you here about the least. Does anyone know how his workout went? I have never seen him play but from what I have read he sounds like he would be a good pick up.
Well, if Andre Miller does somehow get traded to the Clippers, they would have to trade Odom. And they wouldn't want to trade him for another big-name player, because they would be trading Odom to get rid of contract issues, not add to them. I think Odom can be had.
The Clipps would also want to trade Odom to open up space at the sf position with Miles, Maggette, Richardson, and Piatkowski.
I think if the Miles for Miller deal goes through, then there's no way Odom will be traded. They'll probably just draft Hilario at 6, let Olowokandi go, and give Odom the big contract that they were going to give Kandi.
The Suns are hot and heavy after Andre Miller, so don't be surprised if they get him. I would be shocked if Miles would be traded in order to keep Odom. Part of the reason Odom is on the block is because of his suspensions for smoking weed. I suspect Odom is still on the block and the Clippers are trying to up his trade value by making it seem like they REALLY want to keep him.
Does this mean that they will deal Marbury? Marbury is too small to play the 2 and having two star PGs could get to be a problem.
Well, that would mean they'd have Brand, Olowokandi, Odom, Miller, and Richardson to resign over the next two years, and probably a pretty high profile draft pick that would also be demanding a high salary in a couple seasons. Something's gotta give. Are the cheapest team in the league all the sudden going to burn a whole in their pockets. It's very doubtful. The Clippers are saying they're going to keep Kandi and Odom, but that just doesn't seem likely. John Lucas said the Cavs weren't going to trade Andre Miller, and now he is definitely on the trading block.
Let's break this down. Right now, who is further along, Odom or Miles? Odom. Who will be better down the road? It looks like Odom, I mean, Miles can't shoot to save his life and is too skinny to play the post. Eddie Robinson comes to mind. It looks like Miller is going to bolt if he doesn't get the max, in fact, I think he has said he would. So the Cavs need to get something back now. The clips don't need to free up the 3 spot too much because it looks like Richardson is their man at the 2 spot. If I'm the Cavs, and I trade Miller for Miles, I don't want to give up the 6th. Wagner has impressed everybody and there isn't a GM out there who doesn't believe he can play the point. So If I lose Miller, it's because I plan on taking Wagner with #6. The Clips are in a good position. If they don't get Miller or Davis, then they can take Wagner at 8. They don't want to pay Kandi the max, so he might be gone. With the 12th, they can get Borchardt. I heard the Knicks are looking to trade down. So if i'm really worried about replacing Kandi now, I make a move for the 7th and try to get Wilcox or Hilario. Man, this is more confusing. It's gonna be an exciting draft.
Odom is awesome, but I'd LOVE to have Miles too. He's only been in the league 2 years now. Give him another year or two and he will be excellent! If there was a way we could trad #15 and KT for Miles, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
This is my guess. The Suns were a little disappointed with Marbury, and I think the Suns see Miller as being closer to being Jason Kidd then Marbury will be. Marbury is more a scorer then passer, even though he's a good passer. Meanwhile Cleveland wants to sell tickets, and they probably think Marbury can do that. Also Marbury is already locked up, so they won't have to worry about re-upping him like they have to do with Miller.
Odom is not available. There is and was no truth to the Odom for Snow "deal". Just like the Penny deal to the Blazers. It's desperate GM's spreading rumors to see the reaction. And guess who eats it up?
After the Rockets select Yao Ming #1, look for them to try everything within their means, in order to get Lamar Odom on this team. I have been saying this for a month now, and I truly believe the Rockets can land both of these players, in this draft. Wouldn't be SOMETHING!! Good luck Rockets!!
