He still prevents buckets through dribble penetration; sure he has his weaknesses, but the good outweighs the bad. An Okur, Boozer, and Al Harrington can exploit him, but he owns Dwight and can hold his own against Shaq. Average defender sounds about right. But back on topic AI Hortford is coming!!! Well maybe half of that.
that's a good point.. In that case we should trade the other ball hog who is in Chicago.. Because both Mac and AI need the ball to be effective. they cannot co-exist. that why I always keep sayin that the window for Tracy-Yao and the veterans has passed. its time to go the OKC way and get some raw talent.. or see how good portland would be in the next few years.. and I don't really mind sacrificing the playoffs for a year.. its gonna be 1 and done anyway
It is still worth the try. It would also give the team a lasting impression that can lure free agents next year. Some high name free agents probably would not want to go to a rebuilding/losing team. The team should never waste any opportunity to make a run. Yes, at least try to make a run. Players are getting older and injuries can happen so play to win now.
Sure! For one year he might be a great experiment. I would like to see if he is good enough to get us anywhere and stockpiling him couldnt hurt especially around trade deadline he could help net a significant upgrade if things dont work out. Maybe even an unexpected revival to his and Tmacs career playing together could happen. its a win win wituation if it happens. For him and us. We need offense and he needs another chance to see if he is capable of at least contributing to a winning organization.
Dwight Howard for his career averages 12.8 ppg againest the Rockets, his lowest average against all nba teams by about two points. He averages only 10.4 rebounds against the Rockets, the second lowest average against all other NBA teams. Have you seen the games? Yao works Dwight; he just can't get around him or over him. I'm not saying Yao is better, but Dwight just can't figure out how to beat him heads up
Just think of this guys. AI, Tmac, Yao, Battier, Ariza, Brooks, Landry, Scola, Lowry, and Andersen. That is a solid team. Even with a slight drop off in the top three together just like Boston they could be lethal if it works. if it doesnt they could have potential steal deals with Iverson to offer other teams and Tmac as also a throw in with Iverson. Now i dont know what we would get with Tmac as baite, but??? What would we get with Tmac and Iverson as baite? That could be something there too. I think this is a great risk reward opportunity for all parties. Sign me up in the genius category of Moreys moves if he gets him. Especially if Tmac comes back early I gurantee we go to the playoffs again with just Tmac and Iverson and no Yao. Regardless of chemistry. We still need to stay competitive after all to lure free agents next year and prove we have star drawing power here in Houston.
Iverson claims that he is close to signing... wonder who will take him? i wouldn;t really mind if we had him for a year, bit of entertainment right?
Hell No !! The Guy is selfish he is a major chemistry killer id prefer if we got Von Wafer .. or hell DMason Its as simple as that .. Iverson did mention that a deal is closing in on twitter .. Larry brown said for now there chances are low with (Bell , Augustin and Felton) lookslike we r the closest to signing him .. hope its not true
Rockets would only bring him in to sell jerseys. Iverson still is one of the most loved players on the planet and sells a HUGE amount of jerseys. That and a new alternate would definitely get some cash flow in to spend on other stuff such as RGV or development of our young guys. This year is doomed, and I don't think its a good idea to start sacrificing our young guys time, or simply to trade them for Amare or crap like that to try and build a quick playoff team. It would be panicking for nothing. The right way to go is to simply ride this season out, get our role players some valuable time and most importantly get guys like Landry, Scola, Battier the ball so they can bulk up there stats and become valuable trade assets. Next year, Yao comes back, we reload and we are contenders again. I'd rather get a high pick this year than be like the 9th seed. Because believe it or not, I don't think we'll make the playoffs. Call me sinical, but in basketball you need to score the ball and play defense. We don't have anyone who can do the first consistently, and we are undersized in the post for the second. Signing Iverson would be great Marketing-wise, and heck he might turn it up a little and use this as a rebirth. And we might be able to get equal value in return of him when he leaves, like Artest. The whole "I am not a bad boy anymore, look what I did with Houston" story could repeat. But then again, it would only be a one and done.
Iverson would sell tickets, because even though I dont see much use for him on this team (unless he doesnt mind coming off the bench) I would go to more games.
Hoopshype.com says that Iverson is close on a deal, but the Knicks are not in on him, and Larry Brown said that money is an issue, and that they already have 3 guards. So it looks like maybe Miami, or Houston http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm
