definitely...Allen just wants to play and show his old self on the court where it counts and be the superstar that he once was. Hes been in Detroit where hes basically rotted for one half of the season with coaching and rotation clashes with Rip Hamilton and the second half he was basically just dumped by the team...citing some kind of mystery "injury" to hide the embarasment of the situation. We'd have PLENTY of minutes for him. Dunno how he'd fit with Brooks..(AB probably just becomes a steve-blake-type-spot-up-shooter). Iverson is a shooting guard...right now our starting shooting guard is probably gonna be rookie second rounder Chase Budinger...A.I. would come in here and grab all the shots and minutes he'd ever wanted cos the next best offensive option would be Scola...he'd have a career year for sure(for someone over 30) He'd fit great with Kyle Lowry who can faciliate and set him up and defend the other team's best guard. If we were to aim for the playoffs...A.I. is our number one option. If we're not, then winning a few extra games won't cost us too many draft pick positions. sounds good to me
i wonder if we can sign iverson then trade brooks/scola/hayes/draft pick for Amare/Barbosa Iverson/Lowry Tmac Ariza/Battier Amare/Landry Anderson/Amare and if yao can come back in march then we got Iverson Tmac Ariza Amare Yao that team plays no defense but hey i can get my hopes up right?
im sorry i cant imagin that team ever coming about, yao wont be back. iverson wont be our starting point. and i hope we dont trade brooks without a real pg in mind to takeover... would be a good team though. 4 out of the 5 players would probly be on the allstar team.
actually, if yao is an "average" defender, ge would b in the middling pack for nba Center defenders. considering how most centers have no offense and whos game rely entirely on defense and shotblocking, yao would certainly not be a bad defender. he comes up with 2 blocks per game and alters another 5 probably. for 7'6 mobile athletic giants is probably impossible to suck at defending lol man that team is a offensive juggernaunt. but everyone would be running fastbreaks play after play like headless chickens and yaos not gonna keep up. man u should add barbosa into that lineup instead of yao and that team is gonna be the maddest team in da association. until then though that teams gonna be playing 4 on 5 most of da tym
Anyone have any conformation on whether Ric actually said this. I didn't even know he had a XM Radio show. I can't find it on the internet. Was he a guest or something? I need to know for my sanity. I can't find streams or anything. It's all over internet forums everywhere
I think this is the year we should be giving your young guns some time to develop. I would rather have Chase playing >20 mins instead of Iverson playing 40 mins.. The problem with our team is we are too short sighted.. we gotta think big and start developing potential stars.. and I hope AB's playing time doesnt get affected if we sign Iverson. I will be irritated if that happens..
Yao is better than average.. he is pretty good at D.. dont look at block shots alone.. stats can be misleading.. the 7 6 presence makes a lot of difference on the defensive end
You are not alone in this sentiment. This is the biggest (among many other) reasons why I don't want to remotely consider signing AI.. I'd rather give Brooks/Lowry/whoever else the playing time.
They can still have enough playing time. The decision on who plays remain with Adelman. I believe if AI is not playing within the system, Adelman would not use him as much. Like in the case of Bonzi. The other young guns play different in a position so they would not be affected. AI would be a sg were He can team up with the team's developing point guards. Despite having a small back court, the team can counter with speed.
the problem lies with Iverson's star ego.. he is a whiny superstar.. and we already have one rehabbing in chicago... remember that Detroit benched him permanently due to his behavior.. I dont know. but this move does not make any sense if it happens.. you are just robbing away 40 mins of playing time from young players for the same 1st round and out result.. we need to think BIG and develop some young stars..
Absolutely. playing AI would potentially rob playing time from our PGs.. and if Mac returns.. i dunno what Rick would be able to do..whom will you play in the back court?
He clogs the lane with his length alone and usually prevents easy basket. He can guard traditional centers better then quicker jump shooting centers. He struggles closing out on perimeter players; I think that qualifies him as an average defender
I see your point but I do not think AI would get that much playing time. 40 mins a game is pretty ridiculous. At the end, it would be Adelman's decision. The young guns will have their time. The only people affected base on playing time are the guards. The sg of the the team which next to the center position is the most glaring problem of the team. Battier can play sg but He is a sf so as Ariza. On court, He may be a ball hog but it could somehow free up things for Ariza or even Scola to run their respective offensive sets.
