This was the part of the article that got me:

[rquoter]“Mr. Reyes is a trained individual. He would be trained in hiding if he wanted to, so we’re going to have to use every resource that we can to find him,” Smith said. [/rquoter]

Why would a school district cop be trained in hiding?

Last night while driving to and from the game I saw one of those electronic boards on 59 saying something like "Injured Officer something something Waller County, Suspect something something Green Ford license 87V-DP7"

At the time I thought maybe it was a hit and run or something.

I guess anyone can get hired as a school district cop. If either of them graduated from college, I'd be shocked.

Now that I know who that guy is, and what he does, I can appropriately use his image for this purpose. :D

Those big electric signs that are on the freeway that say things about traffic and missing elderly people had a message on it late last night that read Police Officer Injured Call the Police and gave a description of a green truck with that license plate number. I didn't call the police. I feel really bad now.

Those signs are dumb as hell. Half the time they are blinking some message about missing elderly people. And sorry, an injured cop isn't about to cause me to shed a tear much less memorize a vehicle description and license plate number of a car that was last seen two counties away from me.

I would think those things probably lead to more calls from motorists with bad information than good, solid leads from people reading the signs.

Doesn't 1 good call make 1000 bad calls worth it?

I think most of those types of things work that way, i.e., mostly bad information.

Dave, are they dumb only because you don't like or agree with them? :( Half the time... means... the other half they are blinking about good stuff, aren't they?

Yeah, I may be confused, but I don't think JaWindex said he actually SAW the truck. :p

Not if manpower is being wasted chasing leads based on false information.

Yes. Since this is the hangout and not the debate forum I felt it appropriate to express my opinion as fact :D

But seriously, I never see anything useful on those signs. When I said "half the time" I really meant practically all of the time.
