WOW, this proves SO many people in the GARM correct...

Yao has about 650,000 fans on Facebook.

How many fans do the Rockets have? 65,000.

Ladies and gentlemen, the State of the Rockets Union.

I hope, maybe six months from now, Yao practices the pick & pop, catching the ball in the high post, keeping it up high, pivoting, and shooting or passing to cutters. Heck, he could practice that while wearing two walking casts! At 7'6", he might be effective, like Vlade Divac was, without having to jump. On D, he should just put those hands in the air and accept the occasional posterization. He never was a leaper. I hope he can come back, be effective with the skills he does have, and never get hurt again.

So a guy that came back from micro fracture and is just as good as he was before doesn't rehab hard? I forgot that no one works harder or rehabs harder than yao

stoudemire became a more versatile player after his injury and actually developed a lethal midrange jumper. if that's a definition of a poor worker, i need to know what a hard worker is.

amare is one of the hardest working players in this league.

I don't know anything about Amare's workout routine, but it would be nice if he could work on his defense! Whether it's fair or not, sometimes people lump players who don't try on defense with players who don't work hard (since sometimes it is accurate).

I think it's best if Yao doesn't return this season cuz when Yao is in the game, the whole gameplan changes and the players might not be used to that. Also it's for him to get a long rest.

Below is an article that was translated by pryuen on ymm. Looks like Yao has in fact started light physical training as was mentioned on facebook.

    http://basketball.titan24.com/2009-08-17/39772.html

When Yao Ming stepped onto the floor of the training ground (in Toyota Centre), he finally felt more steadfast and secure deep down inside.

Yes, Yao Ming had already started to train!! In fact, he had persisited on his training for one week already. One of the working staff of Houston Rockets told the reporter: "This is simply impossible. Yao Ming just let everyone startled. No one would have thought he could start training so soon."

Due to the fact that it was not long from his (complicated) surgery, his training contents were in fact quite limited. But from Yao Ming's perspective, he would do however limited those exercises were. To him, it would still be much better than sitting around or lying idle on his bed at home and doing nothing.

Beside what was more startling to the working staff of Houston Rockets was that during this past month of recuperation, Yao Ming did not seem to have gained weight. On the contrary, he looked thinner than before.

He looked thinner due to the facts that: firstly, Yao Ming was stringently controlling his diet as far as possible; it was to such an extent that Yao Ming kept complaining recently that he could only now eat vegetables. Secondly, because he had not continued his systematic training, his body muscles were gradually withering. Therefore, that triggered him to start his training. According to the working staff of the Houston Rockets, Yao Ming was working on his uper limbs, doing some simple waist/adomen exercises, and then work on some aerobic exercise to consume heat and energy as well as to enhance his cardiac and lung functions.

At the current stage of Yao Ming's strength and conditioning exercise, the weight (of the dumb bells and bar bells) were put on stringent control; the exercises were light; the weights were much lower, but the number of peats were increased just for the purpose of maintaining the muscle level. It was because if the load and intensity became too much, it would affect his lower limbs. Yao Ming could not yet start jogging as a way of aerobics to consume heat and energy; but there was this special machine/instrument in the gym of Toyota Centre: a manual pedal bike, that made use of the strengths from the hands instead of the feet to drive the bike. In each of his previous injuries, during the initial stage of his rehabilitation, Yao Ming had made use of this machine/instrument for his aerobics exercises.

He hoped that he could firmly grasp every of the subtle details, make full use of every possible time he can deploy so as to be able to return to court as early as possible. He only rests during weekends.

    Bingo!

Yao is very diligent, hard dedicated worker. He is not lazy and has the mentality to succeed. I believe he will be back sometime around the all-star break. If his body continues to fail him will be beyond his control, but it will not be for a lack of trying. IMO this is the type of guy we want to keep until the end of his career. Unlike some of the lazy players that think training and practices are unnecessary.

What if Yao returns in time for the playoffs?

What if Tracy returns and/or is traded for another piece of the puzzle?

Is it still time to throw in the towel for a high draft pick?

I think not, you never know how the season will unfold. Give this team and Morey a chance Rockets fans. :D
