I do not know if it has already been posted but Wizard and Hornets have reported a trade.

From Espn:
This much is certain just over 24 hours from the draft: Trades will be made, shaking up the first round, possibly turning ESPN.com's final mock draft upside down.

That's not an excuse, but reality and the tough part of projecting the 2002 NBA draft.

(Just 90 minutes after posting this mock draft, the Wizards and Hornets pulled off the day's first trade, as Washington sent Courtney Alexander to New Orleans for the Hornets first round pick, No. 17 overall. The Wizards now have the 11th and 17th picks in Wednesday night's draft.)

Nachbar to Wiz ?

I saw a few minutes ago the Wizards traded Courtney Alexander, a 3 man, to the New Orleans Hornets for the #17 pick. I just thought it would a tidbit to pass along since they traded their only 3, (since if Micheal comes back he will be a backup 2). Then again they could be looking at Jeffries or Woods. Hopefully...

Why would Washingon do this?
1.They believe this year's draft is deep(I agree) and hope to get a good player at 17
2.They're packaging their picks for something else

Why would Charlotte do this?
Courtney Alexander > Wesley

Who won out?
I'd think Charlotte did, but what do you all think?

alexander is a above avg player just give the man playing time and he will score in bunches for you. He was coming along good until jordan started taking the minutes away from him while he was developing.

Alexander is not a 3. He is a 2 and is being moved because of Hamilton. Will they take Nachbar? The chances are as good as ever and you can expect a point guard with the #17.

This trade may actually increase our chances of getting Stoudemire. Don't get me wrong! I would love Nachbar but Woods and Stoudamire are great plan b's.

I think this guarantees that Baron Davis is being traded. I don't know where to though. They denied the trade to the Clippers, but that move makes sense. Mashburn missed a whole year with mysterious injuries and ailments. So they trade Baron for Odom straight up. Who else needs a pg? Maybe there's some moves we havn't heard about. The Grizz need a good PG, as does Atlanta. NYK and Chicago. Something unexpected is going to happen IMO.

From a fan's perspective, I think it was a great trade for the Wizards. Alexander's future was definitely at the two, which just so happens to be the position that the team's best player occupies. If you're the Wizards, you only have one player on your team right now who has proven he is starter material (not including Jordan), and that's Rip Hamilton. They need serious help at PG and SF. With the draft as deep as it is, they could possibly fill both of those positions now. It's a long shot, but the Wizards could come out of the draft with Wagner and Woods. But I'd also be fine with Jefferies/Welsch, or Nachbar/Frank Williams (only if Nachbar is selected 17th, I don't want them stealing him from the Rockets). And I hope they stay away from Dickau and that they don't try to trade for James Posey.

I do think Alexander could be a good 17ppg scorer and 3rd option on a team. If the Wizards gave him more playing time to show what he can do, they probably could have gotten more for him. But with the deep draft, I think it was a smart move.
