I just recently learned of the Clutchcity Tipjar :

    http://www.clutchcity.net/tipjar.cfm

I do not know how I missed this, but I did. In case you do not know about it, it is a link on bottom of the main page that enbables all users to contribute monetarily to help defray the cost of running this website and the BBS (FYI: the BBS requires a separate server and hosting fees).

I think this is a great time with the 2002 draft upon on us for everyone to reflect on this board's bountiful information dispersement, entertainment value and fan communion. With this is mind, if you use this board in anyway, make a contribution...$10, $25, $50, $100....or whatever. Every donation helps and will keep advertising to a minimum.

The link is set up to allow for paypal, which is a very very very secure way to pay or you can send a check in to the address shown.

I heard there are over 3000 users registered and if we get just one third of everyone to contribute an average of $10, we could really go a long way in keeping this site on the cutting edge and advertising free.

montgo: That is REALLY cool of you. Clutch does this site all by himself and it is a big ass mutha. We admins help when we can but Clutch does 99.9 percent of everything. He is, in short, amazing.

Part of running this thing is hosting. As you can imagine, it is pricey because of the bandwidth and scope of the site. The front page is now on a GREAT server and the BBS has been really terrific, despite a few momentary lapses due to incredible traffic. But, it does cost $$$.

Clutch is not one to self-promote. So, we should all do it for him.

Thanks for the plug. Everyone, help if you can. Clutch deserves it.

Im just curious ... how much is it costing? This might give more people the incentive to pay.

I was wondering about that. Every now and again, I wonder, I'm glad this thing is free, but I'd gladly pay something, hell, I'm on this website enough.

    I, too, shall donate.

Thanks Montgo. I had never noticed this before. I mostly lurk. The entertainment I have had at this site definitely makes it worth contributing.

Thanks Clutch, for all the hard work.

I have an idea...Clutch, let me know if this is cool with you...

I will personally purchase 2 tickets to opening night for next season from a ticket broker and a dinner for 2 at Morton's steakhouse. I will donate the tickets to Clutch and he can "raffle" them off. Anyone who donates 10 dollars or more is automatically placed in the raffle. My guess is that Clutch is able to see who donates and perhaps everytime a donation comes in for more than 10 bucks, Clutch can enter that person's name in the raffle.

    Sound good?

Good idea montgo... Clutch may not want to ask for help, but if he needs it we should all help. I know that the laughs I get here alone is worth money to me.(which will be coMING on payday.)

And before anyone comes off with the "I'm too broke to help argument" I highly doubt you could be in worse shape than a barely-above-minimum-wage earning student with a mortgage and 2 car payments that's in bankruptcy. If I can do it, so can you.

If you are underage, just tell your parents how much this place means to you..surely they wont mind sending some of your allowance in to help.

Come on folks, step up and do whats right.

NJ: That's an interesting idea. Perhaps even a silent auction with donated items?

I know hosting costs alot but what amazes me is the work puts in. For him, this site is LIKE A FULL TIME JOB. Anything that makes this site more convenient for him is worth it to me.

Either or both are great ideas Jeff...as soon as I get the "ok" from you guys (you, Clutch etc), consider the tix and dinner gift cert bought and donated. I think guys would jump at the chance to win 2 tix to Yao's opening night and dinner for just 10 bucks. Maybe if you donate over 25 bucks, you get 2 entries in the raffle or something.

    Let me know

16? It's not like your smoking cigs or drinking beer. If you can't send it in, have your momma do it for ya.
