Did no one else get hit by that thunderstorm? I expected to see a thread about it. I would have started the thread yesterday but my power went out. I kept looking out the window and thinking, "so this is what a hurricane looks like in the middle of the day." The winds were howling and trees were bending. A large branch actually broke off in the middle of my driveway. At one time, the lightning was so close, I was blinded for a second because of the white flash. Power was out for just an hour, thank goodness.
I heard about it on the news, but I didn’t get a drop. I left Allen Parkway at about 4 and as we were going towards Humble, there was a HUGE dark cloud due north. It looked black (no racial) at one point and we could see lots of lightning. But we didn’t get a drop of rain. I tuned into 11 news to see Lucy Nolen’s beautiful boobies (like I do every night) to see that Allen Parkway had flooded after I left. They showed video of sideways rain right by my office. Very strange. Gotta love Houston.
My work is about a mile from my house. At work, we about an inch of rain and the light show. At home, we got no rain at all. I curse the Rain Gods.
yes, and this was just as scary. i suppose because i could see everything. it brought back a lot of horrible memories like having a huge branch crash down right above where we were "trying" to sleep. no more trees above the house now though.
I left work around 430 in the Greenspointy area and it was weird. Raining was coming down sideways and there was a lot of lightning. I drove to the Heights area and it showed up there too.
Yeah, similar situation except I live 10 miles away. At work there a helluva storm with hail bouncing off the cars and collecting in the parking lot. I was told by a co-worker who parked near me that the parking lot was under about 2 inches of water when he left. I waited it out and by the time I left the ground was drying up. I got home and asked about it and my wife said there was not a drop of rain.
I've gotten home from work now a couple times this week and my apartment's parking lots are filled with water puddles, so I assume some good rain is falling around the Galleria area.
UH got pounded, right at 5:30 when I was leaving work. Got drenched and didn't think I was going to make it through the high water where Spur 5 and I-45 connect. By the time I got past downtown though it was letting up. Northside got very little apparently.
i'm glad i went to the gym yesterday then, i missed all the rain but i could tell it had rained on my way home. skies were clear at 6 PM but looking south, it was a dark mess.
I'm in the Meadows of Southdown subdivision in Pearland and it rained hard enough to knock out the power for 7-8 hours last night! Luckily we invested in a permanently installed backup generator (17kw) that's capable of powering the entire house and we were the only house on my street with lights and a/c. An expensive investment for sure but definitely a wise one for times like last night and during hurricane season.
Katy, Texas. We got heavy rain for like twenty minutes. But it wasn't as bad as it was in your location Macalu.
On my drive home from work there was a lot of rain. It was hardly visible 2 ft out so I had to drive very slowly. Even trying to get home was hell since some streets were flooded and it was hard to see.
i live in the hobby area and it got pretty bad. i thought i was gonna have to find all these ridiculous routes just to find my way out of the flooded streets. thankfullly, my little car survived. there were tree limbs everywhere and a few small trees knocked down. had flashbacks of Ike. ugh, never again. Oh and we also were without power for maybe about 2 hours.
