There is this place that was just voted Top Ten Restaraunt in 2008 that has stuff I've never had before, but is awesome.

The one you HAVE to try is the "Tex-Cajun Virgin."

They pour a pile of roast beef and gravy and queso on a ton of fries.

In a weird way, it is delicious.

    I recommend everyone try it.

Another one is getting the combo at "Doozo's."

Best dumplings in the world, and cheap as dirt. Only downfall is they're downtown, but they and Zero's are the stuff.

    Any other can't miss places?

Thai Gourmet on Richmond. Hands down, the best Thai Restaurant in Houston.

FattyFB, I just ordered this shirt for you. A good friend of mine wears it nonstop.

The dish you describe is basically Poutine, a Canadian... "delicacy."

Christian's and Lankford's burgers (pretty much obvious to any true Houstonian)
    Calamari at Capital Grille
    Crab cakes at Ouisie's
    Broken Spoke

    Smashburger is delicious.

Doozo's must put something is those dumplings. When I'm eating them I usually think "wow, these are the most average dumplings I've ever had" (or something to that effect). But as days pass, I find myself craving them, only the be reminded how not-that-good they are the next time I'm eating them, which is probably about once a week or so.

This cycle has gone on all summer, since I've been working downtown. My boss eats them almost everyday. Very odd phenomenon...

You are correct. It is something that is oddly Canadian/Cajun.

Regardless, fries covered with queso and roast beef needs to be tried.

    My boy loved it today.

I hate yankees, but good is good.

Fried shrimp and catfish at barbecue inn on crosstimbers. Or their homemade fried chicken. All among the best in Houston.

I'll have to try this El Meson, I love me some good cheese enchiladas. Just got back from having some at Terlingua on Studemont. A very underrated restaurant IMO. Their chile con queso and cheese enchiladas are top notch.

Do they normally put cheese on poutine? The times I've had it it was just gravy on fries.

There is no roast beef on poutine, you fools! :p

Poutine consists of fries smothered with gravy and cheese curds.
