Hopefully, we can invite some other players to come to the training camp and the pre-season games to have another " Wafer vs Strawberry"
Good deal. I do worry about his competitive spirit though (I think in one of his scout reports this was an issue, somewhat lacking in the aggressiveness area) I know right now he has a chip on his shoulder for going a lot later than he expected in the draft. But what happens if and when he somehow shows those teams that they missed out, whats going to be the fuel for his fire after? Hopefully winning and helping this team develop back into contention? Otherwise, he'll just be another rookie who didnt work hard enough to make the rotation. Other than that, Budinger looks promising.
He reminds me of Glen Rice more like it. Good threes, fade aways, moves without ball and catches screens to shoot, then he has good athleticesm to dunk similar to Rice. Good mid range shot even. I am excited about Budinger. I think he is gonna be a surprise. Even bigger surprise than Brooks. He has all the stats and measureables of a first rounder and some better in the shooting areas. I have no idea how he fell this far.
Until he shows something in a meaningful game, I'll set his comparable to Boki Nachbar. A little too early for Glen Rice / Mike Miller comparisons, I think.
That's a pretty good comparison. Both have a "soft" style of play, even though they are/were athletic specimens in their own ways.
Me too. Personally, I would rather have Chase over White. JT seems to have more potential than White too.
To bad for White! I had really high hopes for white, but if your 27 yrs old and still play at a D-league level I guess your not going to develop.....
For anyone still wondering or confused, a deal has been reached. http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/sports/nba/090811_rockets_budinger_agreement
"Which manager will be in vain ignorance to take over the cook garbage contract?" Hahaha, vain ignorance.. i love it.
I wonder how these 4 year deals will turn out for the Rockets. As far as I know, we are the only team that gives 2nd rounders similar deals to that of 1st rounder (2 guaranteed years, 2 TO's). Very smart decision making, wish we would of done the same for Landry.
Way to early to asses his capabilities. Boki? Probably but lets hope that He becomes a more efficient player then Nachbar.
Meh... so they end up paying Landry $2 million more a year for his 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. No biggie. But I agree this structure is a pretty good deal for a team. I think the problem with Landry's year was that the Rockets used up their MLE on Steve Francis and Scola and there wasn't any cap exceptions left to give him anything more than a minimum deal (which can only be for 2 years).
Whatever happened to Strawberry? Seems like we liked his energy and defense. I know Wafer turned out to be the better piece, but I'm just wondering where Strawberry ended up.
