Gotcha... down by 5, we just needed baserunners. When you asked for a HR specifically, I figured it was a fantasy thing.
WoW turned the game off at 8-3 nice rally to bad the pen couldn't hold them down... Side note---East Bound and Down is awesome to watch when the Stros ain't cutting it...lol
brianmctaggart Berkman grumbles at me after game and says he won't play tomorrow. That's all I know This is getting annoying....
This funk just sucks. I thought after the Cardinals sweep at home, this team was poised to go on a run.
brianmctaggart Cooper on walking Nick Johnson to face Hnaley Ramirez, who leads NL in hitting and hitting with RISP: "I don't have a problem with that." I did not see the situation being described but just from his describtion this is truly odd... I like Coop and think he has improved by leaps and bounds as a skipper but he conitnues to make stupid game management decisions that put the club in tough spots...it might just be the case that his second managerial stop will be were he succeeds as I can't see him doing it here.
richardjustice Research by the Marlins indicates Cecil Cooper is the first manager to walk a hitter to get to Hanley Ramirez. WOW..Coop come on man I want to root for you but moves like this just make it hard!!!
His response of "I have no problem with that." when questioned about walking Johnson to get to Ramirez seems to indicate somebody else made the decision. Dewey, maybe?
I understand having faith in your pitchers and I imagine they where trying to setup a double play but I can not understand why you setup such a low precentage play because, adding to the obivous stats already provided, he has only hit into 5 DP all year long. Eitherway I put this baby on Coop as he is way to smart of a baseball man to try this and making it worse we lost by 2 in the end! OH Well time to even up this series!! GO ROY
I agree, it ultimately falls on the manager. I was just saying his response makes it sound like somebody else made the decision. Saying "I have no problem with that" isn't something the actual decison-maker would typically say. That's more like something you say about somebody else's decision.
No yea I agree it just suprises me a great deal that a great baseball man is making really bad moves either by doing them himself or listening to others make them but then again Coop was a great player and they normally dont succeed as manager minus a few like Frank Robinson...
Erstad's been playing well recently. He scored our only run after walking in the 3rd. The reason he was overly aggressive was because Oswalt was on deck. If you want to talk about swinging at bad pitches, go back to Miggy's last AB.
