the real question isnt the home/road ratio. Its the strength of the second team on the back to backs.
The fact that you really get more home games than anybody also by playing the Clippers. 17 of 21 is rediculous and obvious slingshot move. They arent even trying to hide their bias anymore. They are just so sure of themselves and the money they flaunt it out there in everyones faces now.
It isn't that big of a deal to me, but after 3 to 4 years of favorable beginning schedules, it becomes a bit noticeably bias.
it was always known they were little pets Lakers, Knicks and Celtics and other teams that make so much money for the league like the Cavs or Magic 17 of 21 first games at home? Sure they don't want them to establish chemistry with Ron Ron don't they?
LoL What are you saying not true to? He just said more away games for later, ummm thats very true. On top of that who cares how much confidence they have during the season, its the post season that counts in which as we all know is another level and that same confidence all the teams that make it will have more of just for making it. Who knows that same confidence might become over confident!
The problem is, this immediately puts the Lakers' as "the one to beat". Of course there is no doubt they will be a force to be reckon with this year, but putting them on top so early is just......unfair. They get to be way ahead early, they only need to worry about falling behind. On the other hand, weaker teams can only catch up, and catching up is usually a lot harder with a lot more pressure.
They are the team to beat because they are the defending champions. Their favorable schedule would only highlight their success early in the season. It gives them leverage later in the season just in case of injuries or some freakish slump.
they go on the road every year during grammy time, so this isn't anything new. they have a 5 road trip, an 8 game road trip, and a swing of 11 out of 14 away from home. that's pretty brutal.
I cant figure out why this is that big of a deal... Yeah I heard the points of they get to build some chemistry or whatever. But regardless, they still have a play a ton of road games later on in the season. All teams play the same amount of road games so I cant really see why it makes too much of a difference to start the season out with a bunch of home games. Back to Backs makes more a difference to me...
Meanwhile all they do is pad there standings until the Allstar break then they couldnt fall apart enough to not have a good record or miss the playoffs. Its a slingshot. They put them in the lead to sustain the NBAs champions hopes of being the number 1 team before anybody can get hot and claim that from them.
