But a lot of that food isn't even bizarre at all. Sure, some of it is, but just because it's foreign and not a hot dog and fries, doesn't make everything he eats bizarre/weird.
Like all those shows, if there's nothing on I can watch them pretty much endlessly. That man vs. food guy though, I wonder how much time he takes between shoots because he throws that food back, like one I saw recently with the 11 pound pizza, he almost finished 5 pounds by himself.
Good show, I catch it when ever I happen to be infront of the boobtube and surfing for something to watch through the guide. Love those travel channel shows. Reminds me of the places I've been.
Very entertaining show. Something tells me this guy tokes the reefer quite often. There's no way a human being can eat the amount of food piled on his plate in the challenges. One hell of a job, though. He gets paid to travel the country and eat like a pig.
agreed.....and anthony is not bad looking. you can tell he's actually a writer and provides input about the place, not just shock value like you said.
i absolutely love man v. food and i think adam's hilarious. we watched the north carolina one the other day and i so want to go try that fried chicken biscuit. the most don juan tacos i've eaten in one sitting is two and i felt miserable the rest of the day. and they were to go which aren't as big as the ones you get while eating in. i'm pumped i get one in two weeks.
I wonder if they auditioned 'professional eaters' (Nathan's hot dog eating champ, etc) before they cast the current star.
I think more than the fact he can eat, he's interesting to listen to. There are a lot of professional eaters that probably couldn't put a sentence together muchless make an entire show interesting. Here's an article I read about richman a few days ago : http://www.courant.com/entertainment/tv/hc-adam-richman-man-v-food-0729,0,742954.story *EDIT* : Another interesting article about his eating habits : http://www.nj.com/entertainment/tv/index.ssf/2009/07/tca_man_v_food_host_adam_richm.html
Bourdain definitely is much better than Zimmerman. Zimmerman's show is all about the gross out factor for the people watching. Bourdain isn't trying to gross anybody out, most of the stuff he eats should be palatable to the majority of us westerners. His show is about showing what local people eat in different countries/cities, and he gives you some insight into their culture and history along the way. Some recent eps were Australia with a focus on Melbourne and the Rust Belt (Detroit, Baltimore, and Buffalo [Pittsburgh was strangely left out I believe]). My only complaints are that his metaphors and imagination are kind of limited. Watch his show enough and you'll hear this often: "rusty butter knife across my or someone's throat, ethereal, singing angels and trumpets."
Zimmern's like an annoying tourist. I always thought it was silly when he would talk to some person in another country who can't speak English or barely could speak it, and start using American jargon or slang. lol. He's respectful about it, though, for the most part even though his show is pretty superficial. I still find him entertaining. Bourdain gains my respect for appreciating cultures and just diving into them no matter how uncomfortable it may be for someone new to them. I've never seen his episodes in India, but would love to watch those. He absolutely loved Vietnam and said frequently that he wanted to take his family and move there once.
