From David Barron's article in Monday's Chronicle: " Scarborough Sports Marketing's survey of 200,000 respondents nationwide shows the average Houston resident is 199 times more likely than the rest of the general population to describe himself or herself as a somewhat/very avid WNBA fan. Scarborough said 25.1 percent of Houston residents put themselves in that category, well ahead of second-place Hartford/New Haven at 18.7 percent."
Comets fans are probably ranked #1 if not the top 3 in the WNBA. I have noticed every team aside from New York and La the seats seem to be scattered and empty by the dozens. I imagine charlotte will band together and support their WNBA team lot more now till they can get an expansion team.
Actually Washington is #1 in attendance ,they usually sell out .The league average last year was about 9,000 fans .
Is it a legit "sellout"? Many of the WNBA arenas block of part of the upper sections, usually the end zones, Comets included. os
Yeah the sellouts in D.C. are legit .They were averaging over 15,000 fans last year even when they were not winning .I guarantee you if they show a game there on TV you,ll see what I mean .In fact they were given the All-Star game this year because of their excellent attendance .
i used to be into the WNBA when i was younger, but chic sports just arent the same as when guys play them... its much less interesting.
