Same here. Regarding the Rafer/Lowry deal Morey hyped Lowry bigtime when that deal was made - especially considering we traded a starter for a backup. For a "minor" deal it sure caused a furor here. "The Yao & TMac era is over" thing surprises me because just saying it implies to many (especially here) that the Yao era in Houston is over. DD's usually proficient with his recaps, but I still need to hear the interview. No offense intended to DD
Sounds to me like Battier has been replaced by Ariza. Morey is very high on Trevor's defense, athleticism and youth. He and Battier cannot start together if the Rockets are going to be a playoff team and it seems awfully redundant and expensive to pay $15 million a year for virtually the same player (great defender, spot up shooter on offense). Battier's value is higher than it has been in years thanks to the Lakers series. He's going to get moved.
well the trade was a starter4backup? thats true practically, but in reality alston was never good enough to be a starter on a championship team or any team with playoff success aspirations and would be a backup to any contender. Lowry was younger cheaper better more athletic. he was starting in memphis ahead of mike conley b4 their new coach lionel hollins decided to put conley as the focal point of their offense no matter how bad he was going to be (after all he was the 4th overall pick in 2007 and they had to show the goods for they guy they tanked the season for).
While I completely agree philosophically with regards to their redundancy and incompatibility, I completely disagree with your projected outcome. I don't think there's any chance Shane is traded before the opener. To a team in the Rockets' position, there is a much higher premium placed on actually receiving full value for Shane rather than in constructing a balanced roster. They want to be competitive, but not at the cost of underselling assets.
he got to the finals starting for the magic??.. hes not the best in the league but hes a true pg with the best handles in the league and a better passer than given credit for.. dont miscredit skip
I seriously think it's not a personnel move. It would be "wrong" to announce a trade on twitter. That's up to the media outlets to announce for the Rockets. I can't imagine telling Shane, Carl, Brent, Brian, whoever that they were the first person traded where the trade was announced first on Twitter. How wrong does that sound? I think Elston gets named head coach of the Timberwolves (BY MINNESOTA) and Daryl announces the following changes to the coaching staff on twitter. I doubt he breaks news as well as another team's coaching hire.
Thanks DD. Awesome job as usual. I would like to see you recap one of your video presentations simultaneously. Then again, I enjoy watching the Chinese lady toss bowls on her head with her foot on the unicycle at halftime.
Houston gets K.Martin, Nocioni, Udrih, K.Thomas Sacramento gets McGrady, Battier, B.Cook, B.Barry, J.Taylor, J.White Hayes/Andersen/(Yao) Scola/Landry/Dorsey Ariza/Nocioni/Thomas Martin/(Wafer)/Budinger Brooks/Lowry/Udrih Hawes/May Thompson/Casspi/Cook Battier/Greene/(McGrady) Garcia/Taylor/White Evans/Rodriguez/Barry
Yeah. Not really sure why everyone here is expecting the twitter announcement to be some sort of personnel move. GM's don't break their own trades, lol.
On ething that stood out to me, was morey mention of Yao and Tmac era over and it has never worked. We know that Yao will be back and as long as he can play we are going to keep him. That leaves Tmac as the odd man. Based on what he said, which means we will keep tmac for no more than a year left on his contract. We will most likely trade him along with anyone (could be battier) with anyone that are willing to part a superstar. Maybe Bosh? if he doesn't want to be back with the raptors? same can be said with Chris Paul? Dwade?... If those players doesn't want to be back with their original team, then those teams would try to get something back in return.
Maybe you're right, but what a way to tease Clutchfans. It's not as if I don't care, but Morey can put out a "we wish him all the best, he deserves this, hate to see him go" announcement to the press. I'm still going with a personnel move, but maybe that's just my hope speaking.
None taken, it was the context in which I understood it, I am not a court reporter though so sometimes I paraphrase. I try not to editorialize, I do that with my posts.....I try to take his meaning as best as I understand it. DD
