Anyone watching this show this summer?

If you have no interest at all, then just watch this one scene.
Watch the beginning of episode "14 chefs compete".
    Look for Joeseph.

I always figured that this show was along the lines of Top Chef. Is every season made up of talentless hacks with anger management problems?

lol, thats what I was thinking. No one on the show seems to have a fraction of the talent people on Top Chef do.

The show is all hyped up and seems scripted. At the end of episode two, the previews showed firetrucks and emergency...episode three it turned out to be the cooks cooking for firemen.

I only watch it for the food.

Watch and love all of Chef Ramsey's shows, the 3 that I know of at least.

This season, I don't really like anyone, except for Robert. I'm glad they brought him back into the show.

I've watched a couple of the seasons, but not religiously.

I prefer Kitchen Nightmares, but I don't think Hell's Kitchen is fake. I think they just happen to pick some of the most ridiculous people to compete. Every other "reality" show I've ever watched, I've rooted for someone. Every time I've watched Hell's Kitchen I just want them all to lose somehow.

Yeah. There is a major difference between the contestants on Top Chef & Hell's Kitchen (skill level and mental capacity). I don't think HK is a complete fake either, but I think a few cooks on each team are plants or moles put there to stir the pot. Like the dude in the video. There is no way that exchange is on the level.

Yeah, I'm losing interest as well. It's obvious to me that the "chefs" are nothing of the sort, and that Ramsay (who I really like) has been told to act over-the-top for this show. If you want to see the REAL Gordon Ramsay, watch "The F Word" or even better, the BBC version (not the US version) of "Kitchen Nightmares". You'll see he's actually a calm, affable, likable guy who can really cook great food.

It certainly is possible that an ex-Marine has a temper problem when confronted/owned by ramsey...

That marine came across as a complete and total idiot. He gave off one lousy impression of marines if he is the final product pushed out by marines. The marines should be ashamed that guy is a marine and represents them...because if one were to gather an impression of marines in general from watching his behavior...then one would have to assume marines are idiots. I take it he is an exception and not the norm. My overall impression is he joined the show only to show Ramsey he wasn't going to take anything from him cause he is a marine. Ramsey would have killed that guy in a fight...so the marine wanting to fight him was a joke. The really funny thing is marines are supposed to be tough and can handle anything. This guy couldn't handle jack squat. He buckled under Ramsey's command. I don't see how he made it as a marine personally. He should be used to being yelled at in his face.

I like all of his shows and always try to catch them. He does get some idiots on Heck's Kitchen (as my daughter likes to call it :D ) I like when he calls them stupid donkey's. That's freaking awesome. And throwing food... how much fun is that. I'd like to have his job just for a day.

I felt the same way. I saw one episode expecting something like Top Chef, and it seems more fitting for a VH1 reality show. Couldn't watch it afterwards.

Coincidentally I just read this article a few days ago:

    New York Times

It's about reality tv contestants in general, and how the shows create drama through sleep deprivation, alcohol, long periods of idle waiting, etc. Quick, interesting read...not totally surprising though.

I've seen the BBC Kitchen Nightmares quite a few times and always found it entertaining. But I've read another article that said his success rate isn't that great. It implied that he made the situation worse in some cases...who knows?
