The most flukey NBA playoffs ever. Two 40-42 teams meeting in the conference finals. Before the series, I think everyone knew the Rockets were going to beat the Kings.

Magic's frustration led him to bang one of the dancers and the rest is history...

I thought the video was going to be where Calvin said "The team needs to grab hold of those broad shoulders and ride that stallion (Hakeem) home to a victory". :D

Man, that takes me back, my junior year in High School.....that was a great run.

That was the "me and any four" year for Moses against the Celts.

    Great stuff Leeb.

Great post. I was born 4 years later, so it was great to see this something I never had a chance to witness.

That was funny when he said 4 guys from his neighborhood could beat the celtics. My Pops and his crew used to call rudy T "billiards."
That mid range shot off the glass was money. That team made a incredible run that I don't think we will ever see again. Its also proof to posters that like to dismiss it that stat on a subpar team doesn't mean they're bloated. Moses won the mvp that year and he was dominant, but the team was sub par in a way.

Additional footage, this one of the Rockets victory in the second round of 1981 over the Gervin's SA Spurs in Game 7 on the road coming back in the fourth quarter. Calvin Murphy was big in this one with 42 points.

No doubt. People always talk about Dream should tutor this player or that player but I think Calvin is someone who could really teach younger players. Of course, smaller, quick players like Aaron would be ideal students for him.

"stop and pop" should be repeated by Aaron Brooks a thousand times a day until it is second nature to him.

We traded him for spare parts and the number one overall pick which was Ralph Sampson. I can't remember all the details but i think it was a mutual parting of the ways

I agree to a point, but keep in mind the dark underside of Calvin's "stop and pop" technique...13 kids by 9 different women is the last thing Brooks needs at this point in his career.
    :p :D

That's why I say the 3pt line kills the midrange game. If you watch footage from the early 80's and every guard had a midrange shot. When murphy used to do the telecast, he used always talk stop and pop with steve and cat. Once brooks get that on the dime pull up, it will be impossible to stay in front of him. Calvin,Tiny, and even michael adams used to work guys.
