Easily, this unitKobe, Artest, Odom, Gasol, Bynumthe combination of length, athleticism and the abiity to score makes this unit a match-up nightmare.
Yeah on paper... I don't think Artest will make it work as well as people imagine... unless he changes his ways of course... it does looks very nice on paper though, I'd agree on paper that that's the best 5 man combination in the NBA currently.
Don't expect to see this unit much, if at all. I'm not scared of this unit at all either, the paint is clogged and there aren't enough shooters.
OP, that is the scariest four man unit. Bynum showing up every fifth game doesn't make me quiver. I'll take the Spurs for the win.
Magic got a pretty decent 5 as well. Nelson, Carter, Lewis, Bass and Howard. Or Nelson, Pietrus, Carter, Lewis and Howard.
Nelson, Turkoglu, Carter, Lewis, Howard. Would have been scary, had Turkoglu agreed to come back to the Magics.
u listen to 790 am (the animal) today around 1100 am.. they (fox sports) talked 30 mins bout this line up.....
Bynum is so overrated. And as said before, nobody to spread the floor, too many in the paint, and no PG to get the ball anyone so you're reduced to Kobe going 1 on 1.
Just force the Lakers to pass to Artest and yell "He can't shoot!" at him. Hopefully he'll kill the ball movement, take 15 seconds off the shot clock and jack up a contested three while Kobe has Brooks posted up.
You're also looking at Kobe or Ron-Ron defending the point, neither of which is quick enough to do the job on even a part-time basis. They'd get lit up even worse than with Fish defending 1s, if that's possible.
I'd keep an eye on this starting 5 as well. C: Oden - If he ever wakes up & realizes he can dominate the paint. PF: Aldridge SF: Outlaw SG: Roy PG: Miller
Mo Williams Anthony Parker Lebron James Verejao Shaq On paper this line-up may not look the scariest because of Parker and Varejao in the starting unit but the addition of Shaq makes Williams better and Lebron better as well if that's even possible . Shaq pushes Williams to 3rd best player which is where he should be. Shaq will also protect the paint, grab rebounds, and most importantly give the Cavs a legit offensive post presence. When you have LBJ + Shaq + Williams... all you need is pieces to the puzzle (solid role players that know their role). Delonte West, D. Gibson, J. Moon, Big Z are all capable players. West and Gibson are going to have tons of open looks with Shaq getting doubled and LBJ getting double and triple teamed. All they have to do is knock down that open 3 which they've shown they're competent of doing. Moon will focus on the defensive end of the ball and contain the opposing teams wing. VC, Pierce, Allen, etc. Big Z is great insurance for Shaq in case of early foul trouble or Hack a Shaq pops up. If the Cavs could add another tough rebounding PF that can score a little bit think Brandon Bass, Landry, Haslem etc. type of player .. they would solidify their contention.
