YES! WE ARE THE CHAMPS. Simmons pitched pretty well, Augie's hunch to start Carmichael paid off bigtime, and Huston Street is a badass - 4 wins in the CWS, all saved by Street.
YESSSSS!!!!!!! Props to the team and staff (my little bro was a student trainer) and to coach Barnes and Brown for being there as well. Holtz only sent a letter.
No. 1 in baseball Finished No. 5 in football. Preseason No. 1 or 2 in all polls for football Great 8 in Hoops. (I think it was great 8). 'nuff said. Hook'em.
All tourney team : Moss, Quintanilla, Majewski, Simmons and Street all made it. Street won the MVP. He's just a freshman, but he's so damn poised. btw, f CBS for not showing the award presentation.
Still a sport to me. As long as both teams use the aluminum bats, don't see a problem with it. Are you sure you're a Horn fan?
Who would have thought the baseball team would win a national title before the football or basketball team? Outstanding.
i can't wait to drive to campus tonight and see the tower lit up! damn why did i give my camera to my sister to take on her european vacation??? ugh!
well i drove down to campus last night to see the tower lit up... and what a sight... campus was filled with honking cars, people on the streets "hookin' em" and singing the Texas Fight song... man i wish UT won a major sports championship (baseball, football, basketball) while i was still in school... still it was a great, great feeling last night! Unfortunately, I was listening to sports radio on the car ride and listened to news about DK the whole time... kinda put the celebration into perspective. hook 'em
Well, since they have won 5 titles now in baseball, and one as recently as '83, and their coach has a penchant for winning the big one, while the basketball team hasn't gotten further than the elite 8 since the late 80's/ early 90's, and the football team hasn't won it all since the 60's, or perhaps 70's, i would say that this is probably the least surprising championship. Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited about it. But, I would definitely be going crazy if it were football or basketball. I follow college baseball late in the reg season and in the tourney, but it definitely doesn't do it for me as much as the basketball and football squads do.
I missed Saturday night in Austin, but I just heard the Tower will have the # 1 again Tuesday night for team photos.
Is heypartner still alive? I guess college basketball isn't real basketball since their 3-pt line is closer than the NBA's?
