Apparently Em is mad because Mariah denied every being with him. So Em got mad and addressed the issue on one of the songs (dont remember which one) on his Relapse album. Then Nick Cannon got upset about it, he said some stuff in a little interview about it. About how Eminem needs to get over it and that he is still obsessed over her. So of course, everyone should know never to respond to anything that Eminem says about you unless you wanna get torn a new one.
By that point in my childhood I'd developed a deep-seated hatred for country music / lifestyle. That show came on every day after school, every day just line-dancing and yokel interviews, and no, they never made any winking nods or otherwise acknowledged any sense of irony about what they were doing. When we tired of Nintendo, my friends & I sidelined making fun of those people.
This has been going on a while but it apparently has been refueled. Firstly, by Eminem who had a few choice words for her on his album. Then MC released her new single, Obsessed, which is apparently about Eminem. Well, this is Eminems reply to that song and MC's denial of their relationship. Its hilarious. If this is what it takes to bring the old Eminem back, then I'm all for it.
Well, it started in this thread earlier today. Moe posted a video of some dude on the Glen Beck show fainting and FFB questioned whether the video was appropriate or not. It just kind of blew up after that and spilled into this thread.
This really actually started even way back before when Eminem released "Superman" in 2003 and discusses a "relationship" with Mariah. Mariah then released "Clown" about Eminem later that year in her Charmbracelet album. So when Eminem releases "Bagpipes from Baghdad" Mariah subsequently released "Obsessed" and it's all downhill from there.
Really? Let's look at non-MTV appearances for the two. Tupac Movies: Gang Related w/James Belushi & Dennis Quaid (1997) Gridlock'd w/Tim Roth (1997) Bullet w/Mickey Rourke (1996) Above the Rim w/Marlon Wayans & Bernie Mac (1994) Poetic Justice w/Janet Jackson (1993) Juice w/Omar Epps, Samuel L. Jackson & Queen Latifa (1992) Nothing But Trouble only a performing appearance here, but w/Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, John Candy & Demi Moore (1991) Tupac TV shows: Drexell's Class (1996) SNL (1996) The Arsenio Hall Show (1994) A Different World (1993) In Living Color (1993) Notorious BIG TV shows: Martin (1995) The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (1995) New York Undercover (1995) Yeah, I can see how no one over 15 knew who they were.
Indeed, how could you miss those Oscar winning performances! The point was they both (particularly Tupac) did more than just make MTV videos.
I'm around the same age as you, I don't watch MTV, yet I knew just about every lyric to any Biggie and/or Tupac song on every album. I'm from white suburbia, and somehow their albums found their way to my CD player.
Alright, I'll retract a bit. Obviously they weren't "nobodies," but they weren't nearly as well known as some people act like they were.
you may not have seen them on mtv but that doesn't mean they're not well known rap artists IMO I dont think whodini are true rap artists they're more hip hop
Ice Cube wrote all the lyrics for NWA and once he left the quality took a nose dive. I think most rappers are smart not to start a verbal rift with M&M for the reasons demonstrated. In conclusion, Eminem is not the greatest lyricist in hip hop history, but he's in the top 8... maybe top 5.
OMG. Is Fatty drinking again? Tupac and Biggie were only known AFTER their death? That's an all time classic statement, hopefully he was being sarcastic. All Eyez on Me. That was released in Feb 1996 and sold 566,000 copies in its first week!!! And 5 million in the US alone by April 1996. And 9x platinum. (but yeah nobody knew about Tupac until after he died, LOL) From Wikipedia:
