I'm hearing that Sammy Gervacio will be called up to take his roster spot.

    Missed the edit.

I hear this Gervacio character has amazing strikeout potential.

yeah, was alluding to the same thing in the game thread...he definitely deserved it, but cutting him immediately (literally) following the game seems pretty d*ck. ed wade's hot-headedness seems to have reared its head again.

Clock is ticking on Hampton...I imagine one more start vs the Giants and then it will be decision time.

Kinda suprised they didn't call up Bazardo but the pen needs help badly so understandable..

Considering the bullpen has been taxed lately, they need a pitcher. What's the difference between releasing him today or tomorrow? Since they are between series, there is no need for him to make the trip to St. Louis. He may have considered it a d*ck move for them to make him travel to St. Louis and then release him.

To be fair, Ortiz basically deserved to be treated like a dick, given his reactions to numerous poor outings this season. What goes around comes around.

This is kinda off topic but does Ortiz have to book his own plane now to where ever he goes next? Haha that kinda sucks. But I guess so, since hes no longer on the team, and theyre off to St Louie.

He shoulda been the 1st released. ERA of 11 in the first inning alone is pitiful.

If you think about what ERA means, an ERA of 11 in the 1st inning is only 1.22 runs in the first. That's not too terrible, and he doesn't maintain that ERA throughout the rest of the innings usually.

He's been awful lately, though, that's for sure.

    Excellent.

Ortiz is not a Major League pitcher. Anyone would be better than him.

    Saw this on Jusice's Twitter:

Hampton and Ortiz are 2-6 with a 9.89 ERA this month.

choosing that cliche over "two wrongs don't make a right" or "take the high road", eh?

not to mention, a higher standard of class and professionalism should be expected from the front office of a major league baseball team than from one of their players.

i'm hoping that isn't actually what factored into handling it this way.

I'd keep Moehler around a bit longer then Hampton...He has atleast had a number of quality outings where the team has actually won.

Byrdak? He is not great but what he do? lol

Hampton is next to go and with the Giants getting Sanchez to play third and keeping Sandoval at first there offense looks alot better so Hampton will be in some trouble come Monday or Tuesday!
