......& I can't trade for the #1 or #2 pick in the draft, in order to get JW, & I'm committed to trading Miller so that I don't have to pay him a max contract, then I'd explore this trade possibility: Cleveland sends Miller/Murray to the Clippers. The Clippers send Maggette/#8/#12 to Cleveland. The Clippers send Odom to Chicago. Chicago sends Crawford/Fizer to Cleveland. Cleveland ends up getting Crawford (promising young PG), Fizer (solid young PF), Maggette (solid young 2/3 swingman) & the #8 & #12 picks. That would leave them with the #6, 8, & 12 picks. With these 3 picks, I'd look to acquire, in no particular order, a PG (Wagner/Welsch), C/PF (Borchardt/Tskitishvili), & the best available SG or SF (Rush/Nachbar). I'd take that trade over acquiring Francis anyday. That trade gives Cleveland possibly 3-4 new starters in Crawford/Wagner, Rush, Nachbar/Tskitishvili, Fizer, or Borchardt. It would go a long way towards rebuilding their team. What do you think?
You don't rebuild a team with old guys. Besides, they've still got Coles (11 yrs), Hill (11-retiring?), Person (7), & Stith (9). Also, Davis, Doleac, Ilgauskas, & Skinner will be going into their 4th year & they have 3 other players going into their 3rd year. If you add Maggette, they'll have 4 players going into their 3rd year. Imho, that's a great trade for Cleveland to rebuild with.
