No, of course it's not wrong. But it is wrong to think that trading Ming is how the Rockets will be able to win now...at least with the crappy, rumored trades I've been hearing. As far as I know, noone's offering Elton Brand or Tracy McGrady. Rather, they're offering losers like Lamar Odom and Jamison. I'm not opposed to trading the 1st pick, but I am opposed to trading the 1st pick for unworthy players.

    Hey Troy,

I’ve been trying to make light of all this Stevie drama but it’s really starting to bug me. I mean he we are the luckiest team in the NBA with the #1 pick in the lottery. And instead of getting a chance to celebrate after some tough negotiations. We got to hear Stevie pouting. Can’t Stevie see his being childish. Yes he is a talent, and yes the game is about the players contrary to what Krause and other management types might believe. But that doesn’t make Stevie the franchise decision maker.

Doesn’t Stevie know he is playing for one of the best franchises out there. I know you could say I am biased and I am. But it doesn’t change the fact that everyone wants to play for the Rockets. And when the leave, they regret it. Idon’t care if ALL of the players side with Stevie,( just because ALL of the birds are flying in one direction doesn’t mean they are going the right way).

It’s time for Francis to get a reality check. He had his little tantrum and now it’s time for him to get over it. He needs to see that the Rockets are trying to do make the right moves to better the franchise. And they feel very strongly that drafting ming is the answer. Now it’s fine for him to have a different opinion but the guy is not a couch he doesn’t have half the smarts of Rudy and Cd. That’s not an insult because I think Stevie is a smart kid but Cd and Rudy have been doing this for a while.

I hope Stevie comes around. But if he doesn’t so be it. Yes it will hurt the Rockets if he is not a part of this team but we will move on and manage without him. And he will be the one who loses out. Houston is a great city for an athlete to live in and the Rockets organization is one of the finest in the NBA. I hope when it is all said and done Francis will concede a little pride and embrace Ming.

But if he doesn’t then one day he’ll be playing golf with Griffin in some charity golf tournament saying how he misses those Rocket days and how he wishes he would have shutup instead of forcing a trade.

I really do hope you go back to Stevie and talk to him. He has a chance to be a part of something great.

I've seen the body language and agree with most of you that wink maybe a little selfish.. but in all honesty, he just wants to win.. a competitor if ya will.. I think he's just voicing his concerns cuz frankly.. there is a lot riding with this pick on Ming.. I guess what I'm trying to say is all of this is speculation and we will never know until it has been done and the season has started.. I think alot of *learning will happen this year* and will be a growing pain.. I think after the draft and the coming season.. we'll see who stays and goes.. and whose selfish and a team player. Should be really interesting to say the least!

NWO, you are right about the dribble, dribble dribble by the guards. But isn't that the problem that causes the not wanting Ming. Think back, Barkley said he could not talk to Francis or Mobley as they already knew everything, What did Anderson say when he left about not fitting in and never seeing the ball,
what did Hakeem complain about until he finally left. Then it is now nice, nobody complains as it would do them no good, Cato does not want the ball, Griffin is a rookie, no ones listens to Thomas. It great now dribble dribble dribble for a high lite shot and who cares if we win. They want a proven player, but I have yet to see where any of the guards want a proven POST player that they would have to share the ball with.

Yeah, this coming from the guy who said he didn't see any Rockets games in Dallas because he didn't have league pass...You already HATED Steve & Cuttino? Dribbling taking over the offense? That'd be Moochie buddy...Anyways I don't even want to talk about the circumstance of this season and why our offense was as stagnant as it was...it probably would go right over your immature head...Keep calling Steve things like "piece of ****," "pathetic asswipes" and whatnot, it really shows your maturity.

FOR ANYONE ELSE--I didn't see this, but as I understand, the quote was "I've never been able to play with a guy like that so it remains to be seen how it will help my game"

Did they show what the question asked was, and could this possibly have been taken out of context?
From what I understand, Steve really is NOT a selfish player. He just wants to win and make the playoffs NEXT SEASON. He isn't the GM, he shouldn't be saying things publicly, but maybe once he plays with him and sees Ming is as good as supposed things wont be so bad and all you bandwagoners will be right back on. You know Ming does seem like a bust and a huge risk to some people...don't jump on them for thinking so, this #1 pick gives us great potential to improve the team, and if Ming truly does Steve, Cat and company won't complain, it's just very uncertain, so maybe the presentation wasn't appropriate but the overreaction is <b> appalling </>

You are so right....when I was in Houston, watching them on Channel 20....all I saw was Moochie bringin it up on point, pass it to Francis or Mobley....ISOLATION...and then everyone just watches, like it was Jordan playing. Instead, they run the clock down to 5 on the 24, and then throw up some wild shot. I mean, what kind of offense is that? Now w/ Ming, this guy can play post and shoot!! He's a coach's dream....bringing out the big man from underneath and out so everyone else can cooperate in the offense. It sucks that Francis is acting like this. It still makes me think that he is a rookie instead of a 4-year veteran w/ the comments and the body language he is attracting....

I agree tozai. I am dissapointed that he said that, but it does not mean that Francis is going to leave because we are drafting Ming.

It was a very quick sound byte and they didn't say what the question was but his body language was very negative. I'm kinda paranoid I got the end of the quote wrong but I don't think I did. I hope they replay it on the news tonight.

It's the other way around. The Rockets are doing every thing they can to make this work and behind the scenes Frances is being a kid. We are a team. It's okay for him to have an opinion, hell it's actually good but now the deal is done and it's going to happen and Frances needs to get over his tantrum. Either that he needs to ask to be traded.

Why all the hating of Steve Francis? I mean are all of you just now discovering that he is a selfish player?

If so, you have not been reading my posts.

    *smile*

Francis is young and immature, and Rudy is even worried about his attitude and whether he will ever reach the level necessary to be a winner.

Hey Steve, if you want to win now....then stop drinking, listen to your doctors, start playing defense and learn to play a smart game over a fancy one.

Steve Francis is an amazing athlete, but above the shoulders he is Rhodrick Rhodes.

Didn't Pop's tell us, at the end of the season, to not be suprised if one of our backcourt duo is traded. I think another line went, Everything will be explored.

Somebody pull up Oilpere post just after the end of last season.

I thought Steve did have supervision.... in his personal interviews he has seemed rather "trained". I assumed this was from his sponsors who have a vested interest in him being a nice guy. After the way he entered the league, they must have really emphasized personal interviews to compensate for his PR mistakes. It looks like he needs to attend a refresher course.

This whole situation makes me wonder if Steve is racist.

Wow! I log in to check the latest new before I go to bed and find a firestorm. I did notice that the various media outlets haven't picked up on this supposed controversy yet. Seems to me it would make good type for them. Makes me think this might turn out to be much ado about nothing. Unless of course Francis reads this board. ;)

    TroyBaros:

For the millionth time, Rudy T is not going anywhere. Even if the Rockets don't make the playoffs, the man is not getting fired .

I'll say that again since it is obvious you don't get it:

Rudy T is not getting fired. Period.

Now, you tell your bud Francis to cool it and get over himself or he will find himself jettisoned out of here so fast that it will make his head spin.

No one and I mean NO ONE is bigger than a team especially Mr. "I speak in the third person" Francis.

Wonder if Francis would enjoy the losing in Denver, Cleveland, Chicago, etc.

Yeah, really. A player like what, Steve? Asian? or Tall? I seriously doubt Steve is being racist about it, but it does kind of make you wonder.

i think if there is one unifying idea we can all come together and agree on in this thread, it's that steve francis is indeed not a couch.

also, since i didn't see the interview on ch 13, can i just pretend it didn't happen. and people are saying it was just a sound byte? did they just pop it up during sports with no lead in or anything, no question, no nothing, just steve talking. there has to be a question he was asked.
