I didn't have access to this board around this time (i believe feburary), but if i recall, was it that T-Mac took a 2 week break to re hab? Then came back and looked okay for a game, then looked terrible for another game?

Then he saw several doctors who said he DID NOT need microfracture, but one doc finally said he needed it, so then he decided to get microfracture and announce this on his website RIGHT BEFORE the trade deadline?

I am not wording this to bash Tracy or anything, but i just really want to get the facts straight...like i said i am pretty unsure of the whole timeline and events...

Nobody is perfect. People make mistakes. That right there is all that needs to be said. What happened happened. Its in the past time 2 look forward.

Sounds like you've got it right. He announced it to the world before the team knew, the team thought he was taking another course of treatment. Honestly I don't blame him for getting the surgery, if he feels that's what's best for him, it's his body and he should have final say. The way he communicated, or didn't communicate, with the team was unprofessional.

BINGO!!! You think a team paying you $20,000,000 + dollars a year would know about your decision before the media. 20+ frigin Million dollars a YEAR!!!

Let's all just take a deep breath before this totally unnecessary thread launches us into March all over again.

So, he opted for surgery even though he didn't need it?

One only has to look at that Milwaukee game to know that his knee wasn't right.

Didn't he jump off his non-injured leg on that dunk attempt? Pretty sure he did.

McGrady was out of shape I think that was pretty clear.

He could've still produced for this but because of embarrassment he decided to just sit out.

What about that Chicago tomahawk by McGrady? He still had plenty left in him and could've helped us while strengthening his knee throughout the year.

I agree, after I saw that jam over Tyrus Thomas I thought Tmac was getting some strength back but I guess he was jumping off the right leg. Anyone have video of that? I was pumped for a couple of minutes afterwards thinking he had "turned the corner" because of the intensity of that dunk. Little did I know it may be his last highlight as a Rocket.

Ah yes, here it is. Because of the stare down at the end I thought he was getting some fire back.

The thing is that in medicine there can be many different treatments for the same type of injury.

3 or 4 doctors recommended strenious rehab, to rebuild the quad muscle and eventually the pain would diminish.

Another one said Microfracture would help regrow cartlidge....

Honestly, it is Tmac's choice, it is his body as to what he should do, he certainly should have been more professional and worked with the team, but he wasn't so, you move on.....

Let's just hope that the microfracture worked, and the team is able to utilize him as either a player, or a chip in trade, or my preference, both.

IMO, the issue goes back way further. Last off season he had surgery and didn't do much to rehab or condition. Thus he came into the season weak and out of shape hoping to play himself into shape. Instead his body did the opposite and broke down. That's why he took the initial 2 weeks to get into shape but by then the damage was done.

How do you know Tmac didnt rehab it?? Did you personally see him not rehabbing the knee??

The same thing happened to Dwade in the 07-08 season, he played only 51 games, after getting knee and shoulder surgery. People don't accuse him of not rehabbing...

He was supposed to get microfracture surgery after the 2008 playoffs, but he wanted to try a less risky course of treatment. It didn't work, because the injury was much more serious than just needing a scope.

When a 6'8 guy who had 42' inch vertical can't dunk a basketball, its hard to argue that he wasn't hurt.
