    2009-2010 Rockets are the 1996-1997 Spurs...maybe?

That was the year that David Robinson was out for the season, and the Spurs had a terrible record. Along comes the NBA Draft and Tim Duncan and with Robinson back they win the Championship in 1998-1999! Maybe Yao comes back next year and we get lucky in the draft lottery. More likely the young guys get crazy experience next season and with the non resigning of T-Mac, we have the money for a young stud shooting guard like Joe Johnson!!! With a healthy Yao and the addition of a player like Johnson, we would have to be considered a Championship contender. What do y'all think? The title should say 2009-2010 Rockets are the 1996-1997 Spurs.

Joe Johnson is about the same age as T-Mac. Say yes to Bosh.

Johnson is 28 and Bosh is 25. If Yao is healthy and we resign Scola, there is a way bigger need at shooting guard. Johnson would be 29 if we signed him! Thats about when NBA players are hitting there prime!

Too bad there is no Duncan in this upcoming draft.

I changed the title right after I posted it, but for some reason it is not changing it!

He was playing hurt the last part of the reg season and playoffs - and still played pretty well although his shot suffered.

Top 15 player in the league when healthy.

this is the ideal situation I am hoping for. But it's very unlikely since there's not a Duncan caliber player in the Draft. I highly doubt that anybody in next years draft can do what Duncan did for the spurs, regardless of what team drafts the best player in the draft.

Even if Les wants to give Joe Johnson a $20 million/yr contract, there is no capspace with T-Mac expiring. There will be less than $10 million in cap space. We need to trade T-Mac for Joe by the trade deadline.

I love the Spurs analogy. I am hoping that we score John Wall in the lottery.

More like the 99/00 Magic unless more injuries hit.

Please stop all this stupid stuff about our team! Spurs won about 17 games we will win at least 45-53 games this season. (I hope so), :p

53 wins is very optimistic. 41 or less more likely

I LOVED watching the 96-97 Spurs. It was always a thrill seeing Dominique Wilkins at age 59 with free reign on offense. He was such a competitor at such an old age, kind of like Barkley. If we were to tank the season I would love to see a guy like that out there competeting with something to prove.

Hell, I'll take even some of those guys drafted in the years after him. I'll take a once in a year or 2 year player.

Dewayne Wade, Tony Parker, LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Kevin Durant, Brandon Roy, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Dirk, Gasol, David West, Deron Williams, Al Jefferson, Vince Carter, Joe Johnson, Derrick Rose, Blake Griffin.

It's still better than cheap late round draft picks like Steve Novak,Lior Eliyahu, Brad Newley, Joey Dorsey, Carl Landry, Aaron Brooks, and Maarty Leunen.
