in my inbox at work. They go back to Dec 07. I started here in Oct 07. I used to sort them in folders. Then I quickly realized I have never and probably will never work at job receiving so many emails. So I just stopped, and when I need an old one I just sort using them by name or whatever. anyone can top that
Almost 1700 in 9 months, though I delete junk that I'll never need occasionally. I have a couple of folders I put important stuff in, and will flag anything I need to remember to go back and look at...but other than that, I don't see the need to sort everything into folders, especially with office 2007 and the easy inbox searching.
Our inboxes are limited where I work to 291840 KB and our voicemails are stored on our email so I have to c.eanup about every 6 months.
Got 6700 just in my Inbox starting back at the end of November. The rest are stored away in folders. Of course I work online and email is the biggest form of communication.
14,656 in my work e-mail account going back to May 2008. I used to archive them in folders before that. In my private e-mail account 64,085 e-mails going back about 3 years (however, I do receive a bunch of newsletters and stuff on that one).
I've got 4182 in my outlook at this time. But my company has our computers setup to delete anything older than 3 months. I figure I've received around 41000 emails since I've been employed here.
Our company limits the emails (size and date) that you can keep but I get between 1000 and 2000 emails a day. Most are machine generated that go right into the trash. And that number is after I took my name off of a killer DL that generated hundreds of emails a day. Out of the remaining 100 emails that I have to read, there are about 30 that I have to respond to. And of the 30 I have to respond to, 10 require extensive research or work items I need to complete before I can respond. Between emails, IM (and I'm not afraid to throw up the DND on that) and reading Clutchfans, I have very little time to do any real work.
I hate useless e-mails. I had an e-mail account through the university that I went to law school at and got so many unnecessary e-mails that I just stopped looking at the account. Do i really need to know about the black women law student association meeting at 6pm on Wednesday?
22k ...? The most I've ever had in my inbox was around 800 or so in my old college email Then eventually I'd get warnings about inbox near full so I'd delete some of them, so even if I never deleted any, my college email would've been 5k or so at most over the 4 years 22k just seems.....absurd
I have no idea how many emails were involved (number wise), but when I left my previous job all my emails (every one from 5 years) fit on 5 DVDs. About 22GB I think. That's a lot of email. At my current job I'm probably at 4GB or so now...
