Source This comes from MLS Rumors, but they claim that it's been taken from an Italian site. According to them, Ricardo Clark is going to Livorno in Italy's Serie A. I guess this is to be expected after he played so well in the Confederations Cup with the NT, but this means Geoff Cameron will have to step up even more. I liked Rico as a player, but he does have the dubious distinction of being the only Dynamo player to miss both of our MLS Cup wins due to suspension. Any thoughts? I'd wait for a more reliable source to confirm this, but it's been swirling for some time.
For a defenseman the Italin league is where to go..Clark needs to flourish just means Dom will need to discover more talent!
Cameron could move to defensive mid and really flourish, he'd be able to use his defensive skills while contributing to the attack a lot more. If Clark leaves now we'd have to live with James in defense until Robinson comes back, hopefully we will be able to hold onto him until November.

The rumor has been around for a week or 2. Livorno is supposedly after Landon Donovan as well. Wouldn't make sense for Donovan. IMO, he needs to go to a bigger club and/or one in England (but not Fulham).
Not really. Stuart has no big pressure to make the move back to Europe just yet. (Yeah he can double whatever wage MLS tenders to him at the end of the season when his contract is up but Europe will still be there at the end of SA2010-if selected) while there are a number of reasons for him to stay in MLS and Houston for the next couple of years. I mentioned this to Stu a year ago that Rico needed to make the move to Europe as he was gaining nothing by being in MLS at this point. I felt Rico was probably the most underappreciated member of the US squad and he needed to get out of his comfort zone and make the move to a European league and advance a bit further. Now I hoped he'd do it last season because doing it right now is a HUGE risk. His position at Dmid is already shaky(despite his good performances in the Confed.cup) with Jermaine Jones soon to come on board and if he-Rico winds up on the bench most of the time at Livorno, barely getting any matches, the odds aren't good he'll make it to South Africa 2010. At this point, If I were Rico I'd wait till after the WC before making the move. Just my opinion but I'm sure Rico and his agent have weighed all their options and will make the best decision. Hopefully it goes well.
Perfect for Ricardo, terrible for Landon. Landon needs a more open/attacking league like those found in England or Spain. No need for a repeat of his failed Bundesliga trials. I'd hate to see Ricardo go but since Livorno just got promoted he will get plenty of chances to prove himself against some of the world's best.
Soccer by Ives It looks like he's officially signed. Ives is reporting he'll join the team in January, but the president of the team just said he wouldn't join until after October, so it's still up not clear when he'll be there.
At least he gets to finish the season with the Dynamo. He might actually get to play in a Cup game before he leaves.
Just got this Tweet from the futbol guy at the Chron... socceryfutbol Italian daily saying Clark has pre-signed with Livorno, will join team in January. Calls, messages have been placed, awaiting responses. Atleast he will finish off the championship campaign with the Dyanmo!
As much as it hurts for us Dynamo fans, Right now I'm up for getting our core group of players overseas to get some legitimacy in our game. If Ricardo plays, this is a smart move. Maybe I'm the only one, but I personally would rather the USMNT flourish than the Dynamo, just so that the game can continue to develop.
i think its real he did play good how about carlos vela from arsenal coming over here to the dynamo or giovanni dos santos there contracts are cheap and there both going to be stars were ever they end up carlos vela would be my choice this kid can play and arsenal is open to negotiations
This has nothing to do with the Dynamo, but more so the MLS. Why does Seatle get to play all these awesome games against international powerhouses? Is it because they have the best fans / atmosphere? Are they really good? I don't know anything about the MLS, except that our Dynamo are good.
I think part of it is the location and the fact that Seattle is made up of various very good and young players from all over the league.
If you pay a teams appearance fee they'll play against you. Every year different MLS teams will play against these big clubs, usually LA and NY are involved. As for the Dynamo, the past three years they've been in some sort of international tournament (SuperLiga, CONCACAF Champions Cup/League) which makes it difficult to fit extra games into their schedule. They don't have their own stadium so they won't make as much money on the deal and there could be scheduling problems. If the opponent could sell out Relient then it could be worthwhile to have a game there. In Seattle the team is partially owned by the Seahawks owner, who also owns Qwest field, so they don't have to worry about paying rent on a stadium for the game.
