Damn, you sounded like me/ do sound like me.

Im about 6-5 now 180 lbs.

i used to be 150 lbs. 6-3. I didnt want to be a stick out there playing basketball. So i builked up on my favorite movie foods and watched tons of DVD's all day.

Bascially what i did was eat popcorn, baby back ribs, a lot of cokes, barely any water, no friuts, but i did eat canned peaches, for about 3 weeks with barely any exercise, and I basically gained 20 lbs. in a 6-7 month frame.

Now i'm about average, but can't get much muscle on this FAT.

    DAMN IT.

YOu gotta pick your poison's when it comes to your weight and your hieght.

Can you lose weight with that program and gain it back as muscle?

lets say I lose weight to about 160, and then regain 35 to be 195?

Or will be like an added 35 to my already 185 lb frame?

don't quote me on this but weight training and gaining muscle on your frame is going to boost your fat loss as well. it's not really broken down in that way, like hey i'll lose 30 pounds then i'll put on that 35 punds of muscle. as long as you keep yourself motivated and consistent, training and dieting will get you were you want.

I'll add this to the discussion....

I was about 5'11", 155lbs for the longest time. I ate everything in sight, but still couldn't gain a freakin' pound. Had the metabolism of a hummingbird on an ephedra/speed cocktail. No matter how much I worked out, I still saw very little gain. I constantly measured my arms, chest, legs, etc. and they didn't seem to grow...you get the idea.

Two things happened: (1) my metabolism started slowing down, and (2) I started drinking meal replacement shakes and simply eating more frequently during the day.

Not the kind of meal replacement powder that comes in the 55 gallon drum-like containers that purport to give you "1200 calories and 200 grams of protein" per serving. Its funny, but if you read the fine print, those figures are based on if you consume something like 40 fluid ounces which is a hell of a lot.

I would have a shake a couple of times a day, eat alot of protien, and work out....I also started working out smarter. Instead of doing curls for 4 straight nights (pretty stupid, right?), I started hitting one body part per day. That way each part would have 4-6 days to recover before they were exhausted again. I realize now that my workout routine was an idiotic waste of time that undermined everything I was trying to accomplish at that point. I just didn't know any better.

Slowly the muscle-mass started to show....I went from 155 to about 170 in 18 months. No fat, just lean muscle. I'm at 190 now and feel real comfortable at this weight. I've been working out consistently for almost 6 years now. My cardio consists mainly of playing basketball, and the rest of my program is weightlifting. Of course, as I'm getting older, I have to watch what I eat more than I did when I was still in my teens. I hate that!! LOL.

Tell you what I'll give you some of the 35 pounds I've gained over the last 3 years.

    In 1997 I had a 36 inch waist...now it's a 40. :(

    Anybody want some???? :)

    I know what it's like.

I was 6'1" and 145 lbs when I started college. I tried everything to gain weight, and probably worked out too much in college (weight, running, gymnastics, fencing), but I ended college around 175 or so and 6% body fat.

My metabolism started to slow down about 10 years ago, and I now weigh 210. Uh...I don't think I'm quite 6% anymore.

I guess I'm a little overdue for some workouts to lose weight.

As for the gaining weight, you must consume protein numerous (6-8 I believe) times a day to maintain anabolism.

    tozai,

Lean Body is the name of it. It comes in a box with the individualized packets inside....each one yields about 45 grams of protein.

I'll throw a banana, some strawberries, crushed ice, and the Lean Body in a blender and make a smoothie a couple times a day.

I've had good results with it.
