I read the headline of that story on the bulletin board in Hooters bathroom.....

couldn't read anymore of the story. Just ughh.....

 

Damn. That's about as F'd up as it gets...so disturbingly sad.

Since she'll probably plead insanity, someone needs to call Dexter. He'd happily deliver the proper sentence.

 

It's just that information is far more accessible than it was, so news of terrible tragedies like these are on the news more often. This is truly heinous...

 

WTF? The brain? Did she want to get smarter?

 

You guys don't think there's a possibility her (presumed) insanity defense is valid?

 

No, I'm confident in-family cannibalism was her rational, well-thought-out strategy to cover up a long-planned, premeditated murder.

Then again, a lot of people thought drowning one's kids in a bathtub was a mark of perfect sanity, so who knows what passes for mental clarity in Texas.

I hope she ends up where she belongs: locked up in a mental institution, away from the possibility of spermatozoa.

 

What's the difference between "competent to stand trial" and "not guilty by reason of insanity?"

Unless a panel of expert witnesses unanimously agree that she is/was clinically insane before the incident.... this woman should be executed IMO.

There is no doubt that she became insane once she did it. That's worthless.

If the prosecutor/judge agrees with the defense that a defendant is not competent to stand trial, then the defendant is usually involuntarily committed to a mental institution, right? And in the second case, the state believes the defendant is competent to stand trial / is or was sane at the time of the crime, so a trial occurs, and the defense argues to the jury that he/she is/was not? Inability to distinguish right from wrong at the time of the crime is part of the second definition, I believe. My supposition, at least.

I don't see the distinction you're making.

The effects of cannibalizing your own child are enough to drive you insane, after the fact, but cannibalizing your child in the first place could be the act of a rational mind? Unless they were snowbound with the Donners or in a place crash in the Andes, I don't think that's the case.

 

By this reasoning, wouldn't all murderers be incapable of standing trial?

 

Wow wth has gone wrong with people these days????! OMG that is just plain disgusting to the uttermost. Satan telling you to do these things? Are you kidding me lady you devil worshipper, wow thats insane... That lady needs to be punished for life.
